Brian Traxler
Brian Lee Traxler (September 26, 1967 – November 19, 2004) was a first baseman in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played for the Los Angeles Dodgers during their 1990 season. Listed at and , Traxler batted and threw left-handed. Throughout his career, he was one of the most popular players on his baseball teams. Born in Waukegan, Illinois, Traxler began playing baseball while just a toddler. After an All-State career at Waukegan East High School, he attended the University of New Orleans, where he set a school record with 49 home runs in a three-year career. Drafted by the Dodgers in the 16th round of the 1988 MLB draft, he was called up to join the team in 1990. Playing in nine games for Los Angeles, he had one hit, a double against Dennis Martínez. Most of Traxler's time in the Dodger system was spent with the Triple-A Albuquerque Dukes, with whom Traxler played from 1989 through 1993. Jiří Traxler
Jiří "George" Traxler (12 March 1912 – 7 August 2011) was a Czech Canadian jazz and swing pianist, composer, lyricist and arranger, and was considered a founder and co-creator of the swing music era in Czechoslovakia. He was the last surviving collaborator of the renowned Czech pre-war composer Jaroslav Ježek. In 1951 he emigrated to Canada, and lived with his wife, Jarmila, in Edmonton until his death in the summer of 2011. Biography Traxler was born in Tábor, Bohemia, then a part of Austria-Hungary. He began his musical training at an early age at the Music Institute in Tábor. In high school, he joined his brother's dance orchestra, The Red Ace Players. After his graduation at local gymnasium, he began studying law; but from 1935 on, devoted himself solely to music. From 1935 to 1937, he performed and recorded as a member of the Gramoklub Orchestra in Prague. Karel Traxler (1866 – 1936) was a Czech chess master and composer of chess problems. He is best known for the hyper-aggressive variation named after him, the Traxler Variation in the Two Knights Defense. Traxler Variation The Traxler Variation was first shown in the following game against Reinisch, played in Hostouň in 1890: Problem composer Because Traxler was a Roman Catholic priest, he rarely played chess in serious competitions. Margaret Traxler
Margaret Ellen Traxler, SSND, (March 11, 1924 – February 12, 2002) was a prominent American Religious Sister with the School Sisters of Notre Dame and a prominent women's rights activist. She was also a leader in developing institutions to help poor women in the city of Chicago. Biography Early life Traxler was born in 1924 in Henderson, Minnesota, the daughter of a country doctor and a nurse. The fourth of five girls in the family, she was known affectionately as Peggy and was a lively girl who enjoyed the debate team at school and played the trumpet in the school band. Traxler, Florida
Traxler is a ghost town located in Alachua County, Florida, Alachua County, Florida, just north of the city of Alachua, Florida, Alachua. History William H. Traxler, son of settlers from South Carolina, was born near the natural bridge in Columbia County in 1854. In the 1880s he acquired property in Alachua County on the Bellamy Road, opened a general store, and began farming. He married the daughter of Simeon Dell, Mary Lelia, in 1889. Prospering, he increased his holdings and enlarged the commissary. The post office, established in 1891 with Mr. Traxler as postmaster, was discontinued in 1906. At one time the community had a one-room school, a number of tenant farm homes, a cotton gin, grist mill, and church. , the Spring Hill United Methodist Church, which was founded in 1860, continued to meet in Traxler.
