Trax (game)
''Trax'' is a two-player abstract strategy game of loops and lines invented by David Smith in 1980. The game is played with a set of identical square tiles. One side of the tile has red and white straight lines and the other red and white curves. History Trax was invented in 1980 by David Smith, a chartered accountant in Christchurch, New Zealand. Smith published five games between 1970 and 1980, including '' Chess Cards'', a variant of chess in which players could choose to either draw a card (with a chess piece printed on the obverse) or move a card already in play according to the revealed piece's rules. ''Chess Cards'' featured "boardless" play; once drawn, the card could be played onto any flat surface, subject to additional rules that would prevent playing the cards into isolation from the cards already in play. Trax FM was a local radio station serving Doncaster in South Yorkshire and the Bassetlaw district of north Nottinghamshire. The station was folded into Greatest Hits Radio Yorkshire, as part of a rebrand, on 1 September 2020. History The station started as two separate licences, one for Doncaster and one for Bassetlaw. Previously the station had operated two "RSL" 28-day broadcasts. In 2020, Trax FM, along with the other Lincs FM Group stations, were sold to Bauer Media and the station was rebranded as Greatest Hits Radio in September 2020, as part of their national Greatest Hits Radio network. Trax Colton (born Louis A. Morelli; May 26, 1929) is an American former motion picture actor who appeared in two films as a contract player for 20th Century Fox between 1960 and 1962. Life and career Colton was born on May 26, 1929 in Highland Park, New Jersey, to Catherine De Angelis and Angelo Morelli, both of Italy. He had a sister, Martha Morelli. He was working as a used car salesman when he was discovered by Henry Willson, a Hollywood talent agent who had discovered Rock Hudson, Tab Hunter, Clint Walker, and Rory Calhoun, who changed his name to Trax Colton. Trax, later known as Crossroads, was a nightclub in Charlottesville, Virginia most notable for being a frequent gig for Dave Matthews Band during their early years. The band first played at the club a few months after forming in 1991. Trax Models is a range of diecast model cars and buses in the scales of 1:24, 1:43 and 1:76 produced by Trax Corporation Pty Ltd. The line consists of vehicles made in China for the Australian market. The company is controlled by the Australian firm Top Gear, but the Top Gear name does not appear on Trax vehicles nor boxes. The company was formed in 1980, by John Eassie, initially involved with Australian model trains. John branched off into 1:43 diecast cars in 1986, with car models being distributed via the model train retailers. John sold the company to Frank Tregellas, previously General Manager of Matchbox Toys Australia and Matchbox Collectibles and Robert Hill who managed Matchbox Collectibles. Alstom Traxx (sold as Bombardier TRAXX before 2021) is a modular product platform of mainline diesel-electric and electric locomotives produced originally by Bombardier Transportation and later Alstom, which was built in both freight and passenger variants. The first version was a dual-voltage AC locomotive built for German railways from the year 2000.
