Kansas Speedway
Kansas Speedway is a tri-oval race track in the Village West area near Kansas City, Kansas, United States. It was built in 2001 and it currently hosts two annual NASCAR race weekends. The IndyCar Series also held races at the venue until 2011. The speedway is owned and operated by NASCAR. History International Speedway Corporation began exploring the idea of building a racing facility in the midwest in 1996. Attention was turned towards the Kansas City area in 1997. Officials considered both the Missouri and Kansas side of the city but eventually settled with the Kansas side because of better funding. Architecture firm HNTB, which also designed Chicagoland Speedway, provided civil engineering and site development, landscape design, and race track design. The Heart of America 200 is a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race held at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. Since 2020, the race has been 134 laps and long. From 2001 to 2019, the race was one of a few on the Truck Series schedule to be 250 miles (Daytona, Talladega, Texas' 400km event). In 2020, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic schedule changes, the Truck Series had three races at Kansas with the first two being a doubleheader in July after being postponed from May and the other one being held in the fall. Each of the three races was 200 miles instead of 250. In 2021, the track only had one race again but the race distance remained 200 miles. The Bucked Up 200 was a 134-lap, 200-mile long NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race that takes place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. History The race was first held on November 3, 1996 as the Carquest 420K. The race continued annually until 2000, when the race was removed from the schedule. However, the race returned as the Orleans 350 in 2001. In 2011, the race was moved to October as part of the IndyCar weekend and became an afternoon race. The second race held at Iowa Speedway, it originally shared a name and title sponsor with its sister race, the American Ethanol 200, in Newton.
