Trash (Firefly)
"Trash" is the eleventh episode of the science fiction television series ''Firefly'' created by Joss Whedon. It is the first of three episodes that were not broadcast in the original 2002 Fox run. Mal's "wife" Saffron convinces him to help her steal a valuable artifact, but the crew of ''Serenity'' suspects foul play. Synopsis The episode opens in a desert, where a naked Mal sits on a rock, staring into the distance and saying to himself: "Yeah… that went well." During a cargo transfer seventy-two hours earlier, Mal meets up with Monty, a fellow ex-Browncoat turned smuggler. Surprised to see that Monty has shaved off his beard, Mal learns that he has married a woman named Bridget. Bridget turns out to be Mal's former "wife" Saffron, and a fight breaks out between them. Enraged to learn of Saffron's double-dealing, Monty and his crew throw her off their ship and depart. ''Firefly'' is an American space Western drama television series, created by writer and director Joss Whedon, under his Mutant Enemy Productions label. Whedon served as an executive producer, along with Tim Minear. ''Serenity'' is a fictional spacecraft that appears in Joss Whedon's '' Firefly'' television series and related works. Set in the 26th century, the series follows the nine-person crew of the ''Firefly''-class vessel, a small transport ship, as they earn a living through various legal and illegal means. The ship is the main setting; it appears in all fourteen episodes, the film, and several comics. The ship was designed by director Joss Whedon, production designer Carey Meyer, and visual effects supervisor Loni Peristere. The collaboration led to more consistency between the live-action and digital effects representations of ''Serenity'' than is usual in science-fiction works.
