Trap For Cinderella (1965 Film)
''Trap for Cinderella'' (french: Piège pour Cendrillon) is a 1965 French-Italian psychological thriller film directed by André Cayatte. It is adapted from Sébastien Japrisot's novel of the same name. Plot The young Michèle Isola, who is about to inherit a fortune from her godmother, scarcely survives a terrible fire. When she regains consciousness it becomes evident she suffers with amnesia. Once her physical health is stable again, she is allowed to leave the hospital. Yet the currently mentally fragile patient still needs somebody to take care of her for the time being. Her former nanny Jeanne shall support her. Michèle, who is haunted by flashbacks, appreciates Jeanne's help until certain information arouses her suspicion. André Cayatte
André Cayatte (3 February 1909, in Carcassonne – 6 February 1989, in Paris) was a French filmmaker, writer and lawyer, who became known for his films centering on themes of crime, justice, and moral responsibility. Cayatte began his directoral career at the German-controlled Continental Films during the French occupation. Some of Cayatte's earlier films that addressed his characteristic themes include ''Justice est faite'' (''Justice is Done''; 1950), ''Nous sommes tous des assassins'' (''We Are All Murderers''; 1952), and ''Le passage du Rhin'' ('' Tomorrow Is My Turn''; 1960). Plot Jacques Arnaud arrives in a small town somewhere in the province. Soon a citizen reports to him that strangers have broken into his house where they stole a mysterious "black dossier". This file had been given to him by a recently demised citizen named Le Guen. The content of this file included information on the town's foremost businessman who behind his proper façade seems to be a ruthless fraudster.
