Transport Museum
A transport museum is a museum that holds collections of transport items, which are often limited to land transport (road and rail)—including old cars, motorcycles, trucks, trains, trams/streetcars, buses, trolleybuses and coaches—but can also include air transport or waterborne transport items, along with educational displays and other old transport objects. Some transport museums are housed in disused transport infrastructure such as dismantled trolley systems, former engine sheds or bus garages. The Bus Preservation Society of Western Australia (BPSWA) is a bus preservation society in Western Australia. It operates a museum in Whiteman Park. History Following the closure of the Perth trolleybus system in August 1969, the Western Australian Transport Museum was formed. In 1981, the Western Australian Transport Museum divided into two societies, the Bus Museum of Western Australia (BMWA) and the Perth Electric Tramway Society. In 1982, the BPSWA found a permanent home in Whiteman Park. The BPSWA operates a shuttle bus service from the Lord Street entrance to Whiteman Village in Whiteman Park during weekends. Brisbane Tramway Museum
The Brisbane Tramway Museum is an Australian transport museum that has preserved a collection of trams and trolleybuses most of which operated in Brisbane from 1897 until 1969. The museum is located at Ferny Grove. History The Brisbane Tramway Museum Society was established in 1968, when it became apparent that the Brisbane City Council was preparing to close Brisbane's tram system. In 1972, a site at Ferny Grove was made available and a museum built, opening in June 1980. Collection As at 10 November 2005, the museum has a collection of 25 trams, 24 of which formerly operated on the Brisbane tram network. The 25th tram in the museum's collection ran in Sydney. Trams in Bendigo have operated since 1890. They ceased to operate as a means of public transport in 1972 but part of the main network continues to operate today as a tourist attraction. The Ballarat Tramway Museum is an operating tramway museum, located in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. The museum is run by volunteers and has a fleet of trams which operate on part of the original horse tramway around Lake Wendouree and the Botanical Gardens.
