Transcendence (Adil Omar Album)
''Transcendence'' (stylized as ''TRANSCENDENCE'') is the debut studio album by Pakistani rapper-producer Adil Omar. It was released independently on July 8, 2018 with a film of the same title to accompany it. The visual album was also directed by Adil Omar. The album was recorded in 2017 in Islamabad and features Elliphant, SNKM, Talal Qureshi and Tim Armstrong of Rancid. The album also included recreations of 1970's and 80's era Lollywood soundtracks, but rather than relying on sampling, Omar reached out to some of the original creators such as Ustad Tafu and M. Arshad and hosted live sessions in his home studio Bisonopolis, Islamabad. The instrumental version of the album was released on October 8, 2018. Adil Omar
Adil Omar (born 17 May 1991) is a recording artist, rapper, record producer, singer and songwriter from Islamabad, Pakistan. He released his debut album and film, '' Transcendence'', on 8 July 2018. In addition to being a solo artist, he is also involved in songwriting and production for other artists. Biography and early life Omar was born in London, England, but grew up in Islamabad. He lost his father at the age of 10 due to alcoholism and saved his mother's life at 11. In 1998, Omar's father was falsely imprisoned which was revealed in a series of prison letters posted to Omar's social media. He had a stutter which he learned to manage through rapping. He was in and out of multiple schools and eventually dropped out at 17 to pursue a career in music. Shamoon Ismail (Urdu, ) is a Pakistani singer, songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist known for his signature blend of "Punjabi and blues". Early life Shamoon Ismail was born and raised in Islamabad, Pakistan. He has spent most of his life in Pakistan learning musical instruments, having a keen interest in playing guitars since childhood. Out of the four instruments he can play, he prefers the guitar and bass the most while also enjoying drums. Lollywood ( ur, , translit=lâli vuḍ) refers to Pakistan's film industry based in Lahore, previously the base for both Punjabi and Urdu language film production. Rancid (band)
Rancid is an American punk rock band formed in Berkeley, California in 1991. Founded by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, former members of the band Operation Ivy (band), Operation Ivy, Rancid is often credited as being among the wave of bands that revived mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. Over their -year career, Rancid retained much of its original fan-base, most of which was connected to its underground musical roots. Rancid has had two lineup changes since its inception, with Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman being continuous members. Timothy Ross Armstrong (born November 25, 1965) is an American musician, singer, songwriter and producer. Known for his distinctive voice, he is the singer/guitarist for the punk rock band Rancid and hip hop/punk rock supergroup Transplants. Prior to forming Rancid, Armstrong was in the ska punk band Operation Ivy. In 1997, along with Brett Gurewitz of the band Bad Religion and owner of Epitaph Records, Armstrong founded Hellcat Records.
