Tranquilino De Bonilla Y Herdocia
Tranquilino de Bonilla y Herdocia (March 7, 1797 in San José, Costa Rica – April 1864 on the Pacific Ocean, near Esparza, Costa Rica) was a nineteenth-century Costa Rican politician. He came from Cartago. His parents are Félix de Bonilla y Pacheco and Rafaela Herdocia Fernández de la Pastora. He married Sinforosa de Peralta y López del Corral, the daughter of José María de Peralta y La Vega y Ana Benita Nava López del Corral. He held municipal posts in Cartago and attended the October 29, 1821 at the Carthage City Council meeting in which drafted the Declaration of Independence of Costa Rica, which was a signatory. Esparza (canton)
Esparza is a canton in the Puntarenas province of Costa Rica. The head city is Esparza in Espíritu Santo district. History Esparza was created on 6 November 1851 by decree 39. The territory of the canton of Esparza was first inhabited by the Chorotega and Huetar cultures. The first belonged to the province of Orotina (one of five Chorotega provinces), ruled by King Gurutiña. The Huetar belonged to the western Huetar kingdom, dominated at the time of the Spanish conquest by King Garabito, or Coyoche, one of the key leaders of the Costa Rican indigenous resistance. Cartago, Costa Rica
Cartago () is the head city of Cartago canton of the Cartago Province, and is composed of the Oriental and Occidental districts as stated in the administrative divisions of Costa Rica. It was the capital of Costa Rica from 1574 to 1824. History Founded in 1563 by Juan Vasquez de Coronado, it was the first successful establishment in Costa Rica. The city was granted a coat of arms by King Philip II of Spain in 1565, and the title of Muy Noble y Muy Leal ("Very Noble and Very Loyal") by the Cortes (Spanish Parliament) in 1814. The Ochomogo War was a civil war fought in Costa Rica, the first in its history, and was fought shortly after the country became independent from Spain. The most important event was the Battle of Ochomogo (5 April 1823) which was fought on Ochomogo Hill, from which it takes it name, to the west of Cartago, Costa Rica.
