Trallpunk
Trallpunk (Swedish; roughly translates to 'melodious punk' — see the Wiktionary entry) is a subgenre of punk music developed in Sweden. It is known for its two-beat, fast drum tempos, a melodic sound with harmonized vocals, and politically oriented lyrics in Swedish. Generally, trallpunk music advocates for high taxes, open borders, and workers' rights, and is critical of over-consumption; it is not usually anti-establishment or anarchist. Asta Kask is considered to be one of the first trallpunk bands. During the 1990s, trallpunk saw increased popularity, particularly due to the club Kafé 44 in Stockholm and the band De Lyckliga Kompisarna (The Happy Friends). Today, trallpunk is represented through bands such as Varnagel, Slutstation Tjernobyl, Greta Kassler, and De Lyckliga Kompisarna. Rasta Knast
Rasta Knast is a German punk band founded in the city of Celle, Germany in 1997. The band name is a playful reference to the Swedish punk band Asta Kask, known as a foundational band of Swedish punk rock, and the musical genre trallpunk. Rasta Knast's music is in the musical style of trallpunk, but generally uses German-language lyrics rather than Swedish-language lyrics. They have covered songs from Swedish punk bands Asta Kask, Radioaktiva Räker, and the Troublemakers. Rasta Knast has released four studio albums, the last two of which are on the German punk label Plastic Bomb, associated with Plastic Bomb Fanzine (established 1993). They have sold more than 30,000 copies of their albums. Rasta Knast have toured nationally in Germany as well as Sweden, Norway, Brasil, Japan, England, Ireland, Russia, and Spain. De Lyckliga Kompisarna
De Lyckliga Kompisarna (Swedish language, Swedish for ’The Happy Friends’), DLK, is a Sweden, Swedish trallpunk, melodious punk band. The band was formed in 1989, split up in 1997, and re-united in 2008. They are probably best known for their song "Ishockeyfrisyr", which is also known as "Hockeyfrilla" (Swedish for "Mullet (haircut), mullet"). They also made a music video for it. The band is headed by Martin Hällgren, Mart Hällgren who both wrote songs, sang and played several instruments. DLK split up after two farewell gigs at Kafé 44 in Stockholm, Sweden. These gigs were recorded and compiled into a live album. After DLK, Martin Hällgren began a solo career as "Mart" (he had previously played solo in the band Total Egon), but later started the band UBBA. Dökött is a Swedish punk rock / skogsmetallband (metal) from Björbo, Dalarna, Sweden. It is a trio made up of Jonas "Heavy" Stentäpp, Peter "Pekka" Hindén and Andreas "Ryttarn" Ryttare. Dia Psalma was a self-described punk/folk rock/metal fusion band, from Strängnäs, Sweden. It was formed by former members of Strebers that started in 1985 (and played as Sixguns for a while). Dia Psalma was formed shortly after Johnny, drummer and main lyrics writer in Strebers was killed in a car crash. After his death in 1992 Ulke (guitar and vocals) and Ztikkan (bass) recorded a final Strebers album called ''Till En Vän'' (To A Friend) with Solbjörn (a drum machine). Coca Carola
Coca Carola was a Sweden, Swedish punk rock, Punk band formed in Åkersberga in 1986. Signed to the record label Beat Butchers, they were well known to the Swedish punk scene together with bands such as Asta Kask and Köttgrottorna. After more than 17 years together and seven albums, the band called it quits in 2004. The band has occasionally reunited since then, e.g. for the ''Peace & Love'' music festival in Borlänge, Sweden, in 2012.. In 2023, after a long hiatus, the band played in their Hometown of Åkersberga. They have planned to tour during 2023. Among other themes, the band made songs supporting sports club Djurgårdens IF.
