Trading Futures
''Trading Futures'' is a BBC Books original novel written by Lance Parkin and based on the long-running British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. It features the Eighth Doctor, Fitz and Anji. One of the enemies in the book are the Onihr, a large rhinoceros-like species, notable due to their similarity to the Judoon. The cover and elements of the story are spoofs of the James Bond movies. The novel features a Bond-like character named Jonah Cosgrove, described by the author thus: “Cosgrove is (and I mean ‘is’ here in the very precise, non-trademark violating, sense of the word) the Sean Connery Bond, but one who never retired and who's been a secret agent for fifty years. So he's about eighty, and all the time he's just been piling on more muscles and getting more wrinkled, and ever more set in his ways and bitter and anachronistic. Lance Parkin
Lance Parkin is a British author. He is best known for writing fiction and reference books for television series, in particular '' Doctor Who'' (and spin-offs including the Virgin New Adventures and Faction Paradox) and as a storyliner on ''Emmerdale''. Doctor Who Parkin first became known in ''Doctor Who'' fan circles, writing both criticism and fan fiction. His most notable work was for Seventh Door Fanzines, including the novella ''Snare'' in the ''Odyssey'' series (which he edited for a period) and 1994's ''The Doctor Who Chronology'', a detailed timeline of events in the ''Doctor Who'' universe. The ''Odyssey'' series later included novellas by Parkin's then-girlfriend Cassandra May and his later protégé Mark Clapham. The Judoon are a fictional extraterrestrial life, extraterrestrial species of mercenary police from the British science fiction on television, science fiction television programme ''Doctor Who'' and Spin-off (media), its spin-offs, first appearing in the Doctor Who (series 3), Series 3 episode "Smith and Jones (Doctor Who), Smith and Jones" (2007). Depiction Characteristics Judoon are Galaxy, galactic police, brutal in their precise application of the law and highly logical in their battle tactics, but not very intelligent. M is a codename held by a number of fictional characters in Ian Fleming's James Bond book and film series; the characters are the current or past Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service, the agency known as MI6. Fleming based the character on a number of people he knew who commanded sections of British intelligence. M has appeared in the novels by Fleming and seven continuation authors, as well as appearing in twenty-four films. Sean Connery
Sir Sean Connery (born Thomas Connery; 25 August 1930 – 31 October 2020) was a Scottish actor. He was the first actor to portray fictional British secret agent James Bond on film, starring in seven Bond films between 1962 and 1983. Rhinoceros
A rhinoceros (; ; ), commonly abbreviated to rhino, is a member of any of the five extant species (or numerous extinct species) of odd-toed ungulates in the family Rhinocerotidae. ''Doctor Who'' is a British science fiction television series broadcast by the BBC since 1963. The series depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called the Doctor, an extraterrestrial being who appears to be human.
