Toyota Team Argentina
Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina, formerly known as Toyota Team Argentina until 2016, is a racing team representing Toyota Gazoo Racing in Argentina. It is owned by Toyota's national subsidiary, Toyota Argentina. It was established in 2000 and began with official representation in the Turismo Competición 2000. They currently compete in TC2000, Top Race V6, Rally Argentino, TC Pick Up and Turismo Carretera. In addition, they give official support to Julián Santero in Turismo Nacional. In April 2021 it was announced that Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina would build and manage the sales of a new TCR touring car for competition globally. Toyota Argentina S.A. is the Argentine subsidiary of Japan-based conglomerate Toyota, being also the first Japanese automotive company to produce in Argentina. Established in 1994, the company has its manufacturing plant in Zárate, Buenos Aires, which opened in 1997. Julián Emmanuel Santero (born October 21, 1993, in Guaymallén, Mendoza Province) is an Argentine motor racing driver. Santero start his career in 2008 at 14 years old, in the Chilean Formula Three Championship. In the following year, he debuted in Formula Renault Plus Argentina. He was champion in 2010, before moving on to Formula Renault Argentina, which he won in 2013. That year he was also runner-up in TC 2000, which allowed him to debut in Súper TC 2000 in 2014, with the Peugeot Argentina team. In 2015 he was champion of TC Mouras and debuted in Turismo Nacional Clase 3. A TCR Touring Car is a touring car specification, first introduced in 2014 and is now employed by a multitude of series worldwide. All TCR Touring Cars are front-wheel drive cars based on 4 or 5 door production vehicles, and are powered by 1.75 to 2.0 litre turbocharged engines.
