''Tourniquets, Hacksaws and Graves'' is the seventh studio album by American death metal band Autopsy. It was released in April 2014. As with all Autopsy albums, it was released through Peaceville Records, and as with all albums since the band's 2009 reunion, it is produced by Adam Munoz alongside the band. The last album to feature bassist Joe Trevisano. Background Autopsy released their sixth studio album, '' The Headless Ritual'' in June 2013. Building on the leftover tracks from the recording sessions that April that produced the Headless Ritual album the band returned to the studio in September to complete work on their seventh effort. Autopsy (band)
Autopsy is an American death metal band formed in Contra Costa County, California in 1987 by Chris Reifert and Eric Cutler. The group disbanded in 1995 and reunited in 2009. History Initial career Autopsy was formed in August 1987 by Chris Reifert and Eric Cutler, shortly after Reifert's departure from Death. The band recorded a demo that year, ''Demo '87'', before Danny Coralles joined in 1988 immediately prior to the recording of their second demo, ''Critical Madness'', and along with Reifert and Cutler, would be a constant in the band's lineup. Death-doom is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal. It combines the slow tempos and pessimistic or depressive mood of doom metal with the deep growling vocals and double kick drumming of death metal. Peaceville Records
Peaceville Records is a British independent heavy metal record label. The label was founded by Paul "Hammy" Halmshaw (of the bands Instigators and Civilised Society) in Dewsbury, England in 1987, who was also a one-time drummer of Sore Throat. Originally a tape label releasing anarcho punk, the releases moved towards metal through crust punk and similar forms of metal-influenced English hardcore punk. Halmshaw started running the label full-time in 1988, although the original tape label incarnation was founded in 1981 as a vehicle for releasing Instigators demo cassettes. The label is therefore known for the connection between doom metal and the 1980s English crust punk scene. The Headless Ritual
The Headless Ritual is the sixth studio album by Autopsy, released in 2013 through Peaceville Records. It is the second album since the band's 2009 reunion. Background Autopsy reunited in 2009, and released Macabre Eternal in May 2011, toured and released the Born Undead DVD in 2012. Autopsy announced on October 23, 2012 that they were preparing to enter the studio, saying in a press release that the album would be their "heaviest, darkest and most devastating album to date." They also predicted a mid-2013 release, and recorded the album in early April 2013. It would be the second album to feature the reunion lineup of Chris Reifert, Eric Cutler, Danny Coralles and Joe Trevisano.
