Tour of Slovenia is a stage race cycling race held in Slovenia. Between 2005 and 2018, it was organised as a 2.1 race on the UCI Europe Tour. The 2019 edition was classified as a 2.HC race. It became part of the UCI ProSeries in 2020. Road bicycle racing is the cycle sport discipline of road cycling, held primarily on Road surface, paved roads. Road racing is the most popular professional sport, professional form of bicycle racing, in terms of numbers of competitors, events and spectators. The two most common competition formats are mass start events, where riders start simultaneously (though sometimes with a Handicapping, handicap) and race to a set finish point; and time trials, where individual time trial, individual riders or team time trial, teams race a course alone against the clock. 2021 Tour Of Slovenia (start Of Stage 5 In Ljubljana)
The 2021 Tour of Slovenia ( sl, Dirka po Sloveniji) was the 27th edition of the Tour of Slovenia stage race that was held from 9 to 13 June 2021. The 2.Pro-category race was initially scheduled to be a part of the inaugural edition of the UCI ProSeries, but after the 2020 edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it made its UCI ProSeries debut in 2021, while also still being a part of the 2021 UCI Europe Tour. This was second time Tour of Slovenia was participated by Tour de France winner, 2011 by Carlos Sastre and in 2021 by Tadej Pogačar. The race was won for the first time by Tadej Pogačar of . Pogačar first took the lead when he attacked on the climb of Svetina, the penultimate climb on stage 2. He proceeded to extend his lead to more than a minute on the way to the finish in Celje. Tadej Valjavec (born 13 April 1977 in Kranj) is a Slovenian former professional road bicycle racer, who last competed for the Sava team. He is well known as a good climber due to his rides on mountain stages in the Giro d'Italia. Although he has achieved relatively few professional wins in his career, he has consistently performed well in the Grand Tours, with three top ten and four further top 20 finishes. Doping On 4 May 2010 Valjavec's name was released as being one of several riders under investigation by the UCI for "irregular blood values".
