Tour Of Faroe Islands
The Tour of Faroe Islands () is a road cycling race held in the Faroe Islands. The race consists of a men's, women's and juniors' competition over a prologue and four or five stages, which are for elite cyclists and shorter distances for non-elite cyclists. From 2011 to 2013, the race was changed to four stages in three days. The first edition of the ''Kring Føroyar'' tour was held in 1996 but it was not an official race; the 1997 Tour was the first official edition of the race. The race is normally held in July shortly before Ólavsøka. In 2012 the race was held from 20 July to 22 July. The last day of the race is held in Tórshavn, and the roads are closed for traffic on that day. In 2015 the race will be held from 22–26 July. For sponsor reasons the name of the tour was ''Statoil Kring Føroyar'', and later when the Faroese company changed its name from Statoil to Effo, the tour was called ''Effo Kring Føroyar''. Faroe Islands
The Faroe Islands ( ), or simply the Faroes ( fo, Føroyar ; da, Færøerne ), are a North Atlantic island group and an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. They are located north-northwest of Scotland, and about halfway between Norway ( away) and Iceland ( away). The islands form part of the Kingdom of Denmark, along with mainland Denmark and Greenland. The islands have a total area of about with a population of 54,000 as of June 2022. The terrain is rugged, and the subpolar oceanic climate (Cfc) is windy, wet, cloudy, and cool. Tvøroyri
Tvøroyri is a village on the north side of the Trongisvágsfjørður on the east coast of Suðuroy island in the Faroe Islands. Together with Froðba, Trongisvágur, Líðin and Øravík it forms Tvøroyri Municipality. The village is considered to have been founded in 1836, when the Royal Danish Monopoly Trade Store was founded on a small tongue of land, called Tvøroyri. In a short span of years, Tvøroyri grew into a large village, mainly after 1856 when the monopoly state of the store was abolished. Around the turn of the 20th century, Tvøroyri was one of the largest towns on the Faroe Islands and had one of the main fishing industries. Anders Rasmussen (cyclist)
Anders Rasmussen (born 1 June 1976) is a Danish retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is currently working as a goalkeeping coach for the youth teams of AGF. He played 54 games in the Danish Superliga championship from 2003 to 2010, representing FC Midtjylland, Viborg FF, and AGF. He had good reaction skills, but was insecure in the air. Biography Rasmussen started his career in the Danish club Aarhus Gymnastik Forening (AGF) in 1997, playing in the secondary Danish 1st Division. He stayed two years with AGF, but did not get on the pitch for the club. He moved on to league rivals AC Horsens in 1999. In 2001, Rasmussen was brought to FC Midtjylland (FCM) in the top-flight Danish Superliga championship. He was initially a reserve for Danish international goalkeeper Peter Skov-Jensen.
