Touch Sunnix
Touch Sunnix or "Touch Sreynich, Touch Sunnich" ( Khmer: ទូច ស៊ុននិច; born December 10, 1980) is a singer from Phnom Penh, Cambodia. She began singing at an early age. Her work embodies key themes in Cambodian culture such as folk stories, traditional Cambodian dancing, freedom of expression and democracy in the lyrics of her songs. 2003 shooting In October 2003, Touch Sunnix survived an attempted assassination. Touch Sunnix lost her mother in the 2003 attack. They were shot by four men on motorcycles after a shopping trip in Phnom Penh. She sustained heavy injury and was paralyzed from the neck down from the assault. The assault to Touch Sunnix is still unsolved. The Cambodian king, Norodom Sihanouk, has expressed his deep sadness at the attack on the singer, who had on occasion entertained his royal guests. Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh (; km, ភ្នំពេញ, ) is the capital and most populous city of Cambodia. Tat Marina
Tat Marina (born 21 October 1983) is a Cambodian survivor of a high-profile acid throwing attack in 1999. Tat Marina came into public attention when she was doused with acid at the age of 16 years in a jealousy attack, reportedly arranged by a wife of a high-ranking Cambodian government official. The acid attack occurred in a broad daylight. No arrest of the perpetrators was made in the assault of Marina. Tat Marina is now married with two children and lives as a political refugee in the United States. Early life Marina sold fruit shakes when she was 14 years old, growing up in poverty, in order to earn enough to pay for her father's medical fees and feed the rest of her family. She started spending some of her extra money going to small karaoke places to practice singing, in the hope of being a karaoke star. Pisith Pilika
Pisith Pilika ( km, ពិសិដ្ឋ ពីលីកា) (4 February 1965 – 6 July 1999), was a Cambodian ballet dancer and actress. Born Oak Eap Pili ( km, ឱក អៀបពីលី), Pilika appeared in hundreds of films and thousands of karaoke videos from the 1980s through the 1990s. Her career was brought to a premature end when she was murdered in broad daylight at O'Russey Market in Phnom Penh. Though the crime amounted to one of the most high-profile killings in Cambodia's recent history, no suspects have ever been identified or arrested. Early life Piseth Pilika was born to Oak Harl and Meng Mony in Svay Rieng province. Her father was a professor who taught French at the University of Korokosol. Kong Bunchhoeun
Kong Bunchhoeun (Khmer: គង្គ ប៊ុនឈឿន; 18 October 1939 – 17 April 2016) was a Khmer writer, novelist, songwriter, filmmaker, painter, and poet. Bunchhoeun composed more than 200 songs between the 1960s and the 1970s and contributed to “Golden Age” of films and songs in Cambodia. He composed a number of hit songs for Cambodia's greatest singer of all time, Sinn Sisamouth and the contemporary vocalist and singer Preap Sovath. Most of his work touched upon his hometown of Battambang, earning him the pen name “Master Poet of Sangkae River”. Bunchhoeun composed a number of poems and novels when Cambodian literature flourished in the 1960s, and he survived the Khmer regime partly as he wrote less towards the fall of Phnom Penh to the Khmer Rouge. Khmer Language
Khmer (; , ) is an Austroasiatic languages, Austroasiatic language spoken by the Khmer people, and the Official language, official and national language of Cambodia.
