Totò Contro I Quattro
''Totò contro i quattro'', internationally released as ''Toto vs. the Four'', is a 1963 Italian comedy film directed by Steno. Despite its title, it was not a true fusion between Totò and the four, but the film consists in interwoven episodies in which Totò makes pair from time to time with one of them. It was defined as a "winningly funny police farce". Plot At the Commissioner Antonio is stolen the car during a night. He needs to find her first address four cases of thievery in the city of Rome. The defendants are Peppino De Filippo, Aldo Fabrizi, Nino Taranto and Erminio Macario. Thanks to the stories these four funny characters at the end Antonio, moreover, by disguising woman, manages to capture the thieves in an area of Villa Borghese. Stefano Vanzina
Steno, the artistic name of Stefano Vanzina (19 January 1917 – 13 March 1988), was an Italian film director, screenwriter and cinematographer. Two of his films, ''Un giorno in pretura'' (1954) and ''Febbre da cavallo'' (1976), were shown in a retrospective section on Italian comedy at the 67th Venice International Film Festival. Pietro Carloni
Pietro Carloni (28 October 1896 – 3 August 1968) was an Italian stage and film actor. Life and career Born in Taurisano, Lecce into a family of actors, Carloni debuted on stage at young age in the theatrical company held by Ernesto Murolo. In 1921 he met on stage Titina De Filippo, whom he married one year later and with whom he started a long professional association, appearing in almost all her stage works. Carloni was also active in films and in television miniseries, mainly cast in character roles. His siblings Ester, Maria, Adelina and Ettore were fellow actors. His sister Adelina (or Adele) Carloni married his wife Titina's brother Peppino De Filippo. Well-known actor Eduardo De Filippo was another of his wife's siblings. Mariano Laurenti (15 April 1929 – 6 January 2022) was an Italian film director and actor. Career He started as a script supervisor and later became an assistant director for, among others, Mauro Bolognini and Stefano Vanzina. He directed 50 films between 1966 and 1999, being mainly active in the "commedia sexy all'italiana" genre. Laurenti died in Gubbio on 6 January 2022, at the age of 92. Gregorio Wu Pak Chiu
Wu Pak Chiu (Pinyin: wǔ bó jiù; Yale Cantonese: ng5 ba3 jau6) (ca. 1913 – March 31, 1974), was a prominent Chinese tenor who sang in Europe under the name of Gregorio Wu Pak Chiu. Wu Pak Chiu was born in Guangzhou, China, and graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 1937 where he studied voice under Professor Lu Cha Zhi. During the Sino-Japanese War he earned fame for his singing of the anthem 'Defend China' by Ho An-Tung. In December 1946, he left China and enrolled as a fourth year student at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. He graduated in 1948 at the top of his class. During that period he also studied as a private student with Beniamino Gigli. In 1952 he sang in concert with Gigli and his daughter Rina Gigli at Sezze Romano. Nino Terzo
Nino Terzo (22 May 1923 – 8 May 2005) was an Italian actor. Life and career Born in Palermo as Antonino Terzo, he worked intensively in the avanspettacolo and revue theater, entering the stage companies of Totò, Peppino De Filippo, Franco and Ciccio, Domenico Modugno, among others. Terzo was also active as a singer, appearing in several operettas. Terzo made his film debut in 1962, and he soon established himself as one of the most active character actors in the Italian comedy cinema, usually playing, with small variations, the character that made him famous in avanspettacolo, i.e. a man with extremely slow reflexes and a huge speech impediment, which does not allow him to speak before he loudly inhaled and exhaled.
