''Total Balalaika Show'' is a 1994 in film, 1994 film by director Aki Kaurismäki featuring a concert by the Leningrad Cowboys and the Alexandrov Ensemble. The concert took place on 12 June 1993 on Helsinki Senate Square, Senate Square in Helsinki, Finland. Aki Kaurismäki
Aki Olavi Kaurismäki (; born 4 April 1957) is a Finnish film director and screenwriter. He is best known for the award-winning '' Drifting Clouds'' (1996), ''The Man Without a Past'' (2002), ''Le Havre'' (2011) and ''The Other Side of Hope'' (2017), as well as for the mockumentary ''Leningrad Cowboys Go America'' (1989). He is described as Finland's best-known film director. Career After graduating in media studies from the University of Tampere, Kaurismäki worked as a bricklayer, postman, and dish-washer, long before pursuing his interest in cinema, first as a critic, and later as a screenwriter & director. He started his career as a co-screenwriter and actor in films made by his older brother, Mika Kaurismäki. He played the main role in Mika's film '' The Liar'' (1981). "Delilah" is a song recorded by Welsh singer Tom Jones in December 1967. The lyrics were written by Barry Mason, and the music by Les Reed, who also contributed the title and theme of the song. Eclipse is a brand for a line of DVD-video, DVD film series released by The Criterion Collection. It debuted on March 27, 2007. The brand was created to produce budget-priced, high-quality DVD editions of hard-to-find films. The DVDs are released in boxed sets that have contained between two and seven films, and focus on a specific film director, director, film studio, Film genre, genre, or Theme (arts), theme. Typically, they are released monthly. In order to keep prices low, the films do not receive the same degree of remastering or any of the special edition, special features generally associated with Criterion Collection titles. DVD region codes are a digital rights management technique introduced in 1997. It is designed to allow rights holders to control the international distribution of a DVD release, including its content, release date, and price, all according to the appropriate region. This is achieved by way of region-locked DVD players, which will play back only DVDs encoded to their region (plus those without any region code). Sandrew Metronome is a Scandinavian film distribution company formed in the 1990s. It was one of the biggest distributor companies in the Nordic countries. Sandrew Metronome was established by the Swedish company Sandrews and the Danish Metronome. Later the Norwegian media company Schibsted acquired Metronome and became joint owner with Sandrews. Schibsted gained sole owner in 2006, but later divested its holdings of Sandrew Metronome to a group of investors and its former CEO in 2013. Between 2005 and 2007 Sandrew Metronome sold its cinemas.
