Toseland, Cambridgeshire
Toseland is a village and civil parish in Cambridgeshire, England. The name Toseland is Scandinavian and has connections to the Old Norse word 'lunde' translated as a type of sacred or small wood. The parish is neighbours with nearby parishes within Cambridgeshire such as Yelling, Gravely, Great Paxton and St Agnes. History During the 19th century Toseland was described as a hundred due to the fact that it contained smaller parishes. Imperial Gazetteer John Marius Wilson applied his definition of Toseland as:''"a parish and a hundred in Hunts. The parish lies 3¼ miles NE of St. Neots r. station, and is in St. Neots district. Post town, St. Neots. Acres, 1,320. Real property, £1,585. Pop., 217. Houses, 44. The property is divided among a few. The manor-house is a handsome ancient edifice, now occupied by a farmer".'' David Toseland
David Anthony Toseland (born 22 December 1952) is a former English cricketer. Toseland was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off break. He was born at Redruth, Cornwall. Toseland made his Minor Counties Championship debut for Cornwall in 1973 against Devon. From 1973 to 1994, he represented the county in 127 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which came against Wiltshire. Toseland also represented Cornwall in the MCCA Knockout Trophy. His debut in that competition came against Devon in 1984. From 1984 to 1994, he represented the county in 13 Trophy matches, the last of which came against Devon. Toseland also represented Cornwall in List A cricket. His first List A match came against Oxfordshire in the 1975 Gillette Cup. From 1975 to 2000, he represented the county in 5 List A matches, the last of which came against Norfolk in the 2000 NatWest Trophy, coming some six years after his previous appearance for the county. Ernie Toseland (17 March 1905 – 19 October 1987) was an English association football, footballer who played in the outside right position.
