''Tosanoides'' is a genus of marine ray-finned fish in the subfamily Anthiinae which is part of the family Serranidae, the groupers and sea basses. They are found in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. ''Tosanoides bennetti'' is a species of reef fish from the subfamily Anthiinae part of the family Serranidae, the groupers and sea basses, and is known only from the Coral Sea and can be found in depths of 141–150 meters. Tosanoides Obama
''Tosanoides obama'', Obama's basslet, is a coral reef fish species from the subfamily Anthiinae part of the family Serranidae, the groupers and sea basses. It was discovered in Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, Hawaii. ''Tosanoides obama'' was named after former US President Barack Obama in honor of his efforts to preserve natural environments including expanding the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. It was first discovered and described by Richard Pyle, Brian Greene and Randall Kosaki in December 2016. They also noted a distinctive spot on the male's dorsal fin reminiscent of Obama's campaign logo. The fish live in small groups in holes in reefs at a depth of around 90 m. ''Tosanoides aphrodite'', the Aphrodite anthias, is a species of marine ray-finned fish, from the subfamily Anthiinae part of the Family (biology), family Serranidae, the groupers and sea basses. It was discovered in the Atlantic Ocean in 2018, the only one in its genus to be discovered there. It was first identified by Luiz A. Rocha and Hudson Pinheiro, staff members of the California Academy of Sciences. The fish is electric pink and yellow and has bright green fins. It was discovered near Brazil and can be distinguished by 15-16 soft dorsal fin rays and 9 anal fin rays. They are sexually dichromatic, meaning the males and females are different colors. Anthiinae
Anthias are members of the family Serranidae and make up the subfamily Anthiinae. Anthias make up a sizeable portion of the population of pink, orange, and yellow reef fishes seen swarming in most coral reef photography and film. The name Anthiidae is preoccupied by a subfamily of ground beetles in the family Carabidae created by Bonelli in 1813 and this grouping should be called the Anthiadinae. However, both the 5th Edition of ''Fishes of the World'' and Fishbase give the Serranid subfamily as "Anthiinae". Anthias are mostly small, thus are quite popular within the ornamental fish trade. The Coral Sea () is a marginal sea of the South Pacific off the northeast coast of Australia, and classified as an interim Australian bioregion. Serranidae
The Serranidae are a large family of fishes belonging to the order Perciformes. The family contains about 450 species in 65 genera, including the sea basses and the groupers (subfamily Epinephelinae). Richard Lawrence Pyle, Ph.D. (born 24 March 1967) is a scuba diver and ichthyologist working on Hawaii. Pyle discovered the principle of " Pyle stops" when decompressing from many deep dives in search of new species of fish, and has identified hundreds of new species. He is the author of over 130 publications. In October 2015, he won second prize, an award of €5,000, in the GBIF Ebbe Nielsen Challenge, a Global Biodiversity Information Facility competition, for BioGUID.org, "a web service that crosslinks identifiers linked to data objects in the biodiversity realm".
