Tosa-Kitagawa Station
is a passenger railway station located in the town of Ōtoyo, Nagaoka District, Kōchi Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by JR Shikoku and has the station number "D33". Lines The station is served by the JR Shikoku Dosan Line and is located 93.3 km from the beginning of the line at . Layout The station, which is unmanned, consists of a narrow island platform serving two tracks all mounted on an iron bridge spanning the Ananai River. From both the north and south ends of the bridge, stairs lead up to a pedestrian walkway along the length of the bridge which gives access to the platform. Dosan Line
is a railway line in Shikoku, Japan, operated by the Shikoku Railway Company (JR Shikoku). It connects Tadotsu Station in Tadotsu, Kagawa, and Kubokawa Station in Shimanto, Kōchi. The line links the city of Kōchi with northern Shikoku and the island of Honshū via the Seto-Ōhashi Line. The first section of the line between Tadotsu and Kotohira opened in 1889, Kochi was connected to the northern section of the line in 1935, and the western extension of the line was completed in 1951. The name of the line comes from and , the old provincial names of present-day Kōchi Prefecture and Kagawa Prefecture, respectively. Ōtoyo, Kōchi
is a town located in Nagaoka District, Kōchi Prefecture, Japan in the mountainous district of central Shikoku. The and both flow through Ōtoyo. It is the only municipality in Shikoku where over 50% of the population is aged over 65. History On March 31, 1955 the villages of Higashitoyonaga, Nishitoyonaga, Ōsugi, and Tentsubo joined to form the village of Ōtoyo. The name Ōtoyo came from taking the in and the in . Following this, a section of Ōtoyo was absorbed into the town of Tosayamada (present day Kami, Kōchi). On the April 1, 1972, the village became a town. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks.
