Toros De Camagüey
Toros de Camagüey (English: Camagüey Bulls) is a baseball team in the Cuban National Series based in Camagüey. Formed after the Cuban state redefined its provinces in 1977, the Toros advanced the next season to the league championship series, but fell to Henequeneros. They last won group C in 1997-98 Cuban National Series, 1997-1998. History The team was established in 1977, but there was another team playing in the Camagüey Province nicknamed the Granjeros (Farmers), who started playing in 1967 and can be considered the Toros predecessor. Young Camagüey pitcher Vicyohandri Odelín and first baseman/center fielder Leslie Anderson played for Cuba national baseball team, Cuba at the 2006 World Baseball Classic. Camagüey
Camagüey () is a city and municipality in central Cuba and is the nation's third-largest city with more than 321,000 inhabitants. It is the capital of the Camagüey Province. It was founded as Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe in 1514, by Spanish colonists on the northern coast and moved inland in 1528, to the site of a Taino village named Camagüey. It was one of the seven original settlements (''villas'') founded in Cuba by the Spanish. After Henry Morgan burned the city in the 17th century, it was redesigned like a maze so attackers would find it hard to move around inside the city. The symbol of the city of Camagüey is the clayen pot or ''tinajón'', used to capture rain water and keep it fresh. Camagüey is also the birthplace of Ignacio Agramonte (1841), an important figure of the Ten Years' War against Spain. Yariel Humberto Rodríguez Yordy, (born March 10, 1997) is a Cuban professional baseball pitcher for the Chunichi Dragons of Nippon Professional Baseball. He has played in the Cuban National Series for Ganaderos de Camagüey, and representing the Cuba national baseball team. Career Rodríguez had previously been linked with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks before signing for the Chunichi Dragons on a development deal in January 2020. Rodríguez recorded a 3-4 record and 4.12 ERA in 11 appearances in his first year with Chunichi. Pitching style Rodríguez tops out with a 95mp/h fastball.
