Torben Schousboe
Torben Schousboe (October 6, 1937-December 9, 2017 Odense) was a Danish music researcher and writer. After completing organ studies in 1960, he graduated from Copenhagen University, where he taught from 1972 to 1996. He is known above all for his work on Carl Nielsen. In 1983 he published, in collaboration with Nielsen's daughter Irmelin Eggert Møller, the composer's diaries and correspondence with his wife Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen. Schousboe was organist and cantor in Copenhagen's Emdrup Church from its opening in 1961 until 1996. He taught at the University of Copenhagen's Musicology Institute, specializing in the history of music and music theory. Carl Nielsen
Carl August Nielsen (; 9 June 1865 – 3 October 1931) was a Danish composer, conductor and violinist, widely recognized as his country's most prominent composer. Brought up by poor yet musically talented parents on the island of Funen, he demonstrated his musical abilities at an early age. He initially played in a military band before attending the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen from 1884 until December 1886. He premiered his Op. 1, '' Suite for Strings'', in 1888, at the age of 23. The following year, Nielsen began a 16-year stint as a second violinist in the Royal Danish Orchestra under the conductor Johan Svendsen, during which he played in Giuseppe Verdi's ''Falstaff'' and '' Otello'' at their Danish premieres. Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen
Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen (born Anne Marie Brodersen; 21 June 1863 – 21 February 1945) was a Danish sculptor. Her preferred themes were domestic animals and people, with an intense, naturalistic portrayal of movements and sentiments. She also depicted themes from Nordic mythology. She was "one of the first women to be taken seriously as a sculptor," a trend-setter in Danish art for most of her life. She was married to the Danish composer Carl Nielsen. Early life Brodersen was born on Thygesminde, a large farm estate in South Stenderup, near Kolding. Her father Povl Julius Brodersen served in the German Dragoons before purchasing the farm. He married Friderikke Johanne Kirstine Gilling, who was his housekeeper. The Brodersens were "successful, daring people", some of the first to import livestock directly from England. Cantor (church)
In Christianity, the cantor, sometimes called the precentor or the protopsaltes (; from ), is the chief singer, and usually instructor, employed at a church, with responsibilities for the choir and the preparation of the Mass or worship service. Generally, a cantor must be competent to choose and conduct the vocals for the choir, to start any chant on demand, and to be able to identify and correct the missteps of singers placed under them. Dan Fog
Dan Fog (11 August 1919 – 31 August 2000) was a Danish music antiquarian and publisher who is remembered principally for his Danish music catalogues and biographies of Scandinavian composers. After matriculating from Ordrup School in 1937 where he specialized in modern languages, Fog trained as an antiquarian bookseller while studying musicology at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. He also took organ lessons with Søren Sørensen. In 1953, he acquired the publishing and antiquarian business which had been founded by Knud Larsen in 1906 (Knud Larsens Musikforlag og Musikantikvariat).
