Toralf Lyng
Toralf Lyng (6 July 1909 – 29 October 2005) was a Norwegian sports official. He was born in Voss as a son of judge Ulrik Fredrik Lange Lyng (1868–1948) and Marie Aars Kaurin (1870–1951). In December 1939 he married Grethe Jørgensen (1913–2001). During the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany he was imprisoned in Bredtveit concentration camp in January 1945, and was also held at Victoria Terrasse. He was the secretary-general of the Association for the Promotion of Skiing from 1947 to 1957, head of the venue office of the 1952 Winter Olympics from 1949 to 1952, and secretary-general of the Norwegian Trekking Association from 1957 to 1977. He was decorated as a Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav in 1969. Ulrik Fredrik Lange Lyng
Ulrik Fredrik Lange Lyng (1868–1948) was a Norwegian judge. He was born in Fanestranden near Molde. He finished his secondary education in 1891 and graduated with the cand.jur. degree in 1895. After several years as an attorney in Voss, he was appointed as an assessor in Kristiania City Court in 1913. In 1929 he was an acting chief justice of that court. He was also a conscript officer in the military, with the rank of captain. Lyng was also admitted into the exclusive skiing-based social club SK Ull in 1915. He was the only new member between 1908 and 1924. He served as manager of the club, overlooking its treasury and secretary functions, from 1919 to 1935. Together with Marie Aars Kaurin (1870–1951) he had the son Toralf Lyng Toralf Lyng (6 July 1909 – 29 October 2005) was a Norwegian sports official. Voss () is a municipality and a traditional district in Vestland county, Norway. The administrative center of the municipality is the village of Vossevangen. Other villages include Bolstadøyri, Borstrondi, Evanger, Kvitheim, Mjølfjell, Oppheim, Stalheim, and Vinje. The municipality is the 35th largest by area of Norway's 356 municipalities. Bredtveit Concentration Camp Survivors
Bredtvet is a neighborhood in the borough of Bjerke in Oslo, Norway. The area is located on a ridge between the neighborhoods of Veitvet to the west and Kalbakken to the east. Its origin was as a farm of the same name. It is not mentioned in writings from the Middle Ages, but was at one time Crown land. Its first private owner is registered in 1662, and from 1817 to 1824 it was owned by Hans Nielsen Hauge. Arild () is a locality situated in Höganäs Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 522 inhabitants in 2010. It is located in the bay of Skälderviken in north-western Scania, approximately 30 km north of Helsingborg in Sweden. Arild belongs to Brunnby parish with its seat in Brunnby. The parish is represented in Arild by Arilds Chapel. The village was mostly concentrated around the chapel and the shoreline but has come to extend uphill towards Kullaberg, creating height differences between the various parts of the village. Jakob Vaage
Jakob Vaage (9 February 1905 – 29 January 1994) was a Norwegian educator, author and historian. He served as secretary of the Association for the Promotion of Skiing and curator of the Holmenkollen Ski Museum. Biography Vaage was born in Aker, Norway. His parents were Jakob Vaage (1862–1953) and Mathilde Gundersen (1866–1953). He was raised in the Oslo neighborhood of Lilleaker. Vaage studied science at the University of Oslo, where he became cand.real. in 1931 with a botany major. His specialty was plants of the Arctics. He was employed as a high school teacher in Ullern from 1934 until he retired in 1972. During the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany, he was imprisoned along with hundred of other Norwegian school teachers. He was incarcerated in Bredtveit concentration camp from March 1942, then in Grini concentration camp for some days. On 31 March he was moved to Jørstadmoen, later to Kirkenes.
