Tor Erik Jenstad
Tor Erik Jenstad (born October 5, 1956) is a Norwegian linguist, dictionary editor, and traditional Norwegian folk musician living in Trondheim. He was born in Sunndal in the Nordmøre district. Education Jenstad is a graduate of the University of Trondheim, where he received the degree candidatus philologiæ in 1982 with a thesis on the Sunndal dialect. He received his doctorate in 1995 with the dissertation (: Folk Terminology in Norwegian Dialects with an Emphasis on Fiddle Tradition). In 2001 he published a book with the same title based on his dissertation. Linguistic career Since 2003 he has been one of the editors of the 2014 '' Norsk Ordbok'' (Norwegian Dictionary). Jenstad is a member of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters. Jenstad focuses on communication, and his publications range from academic to popular research books and articles. Sunndal
is a municipality in the Nordmøre region located in the northeast part of Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The administrative center of the municipality is the village of Sunndalsøra. Other villages include Gjøra, Grøa, Hoelsand, Jordalsgrenda, Romfo, Ålvund, Ålvundeidet, and Øksendalsøra. With an area of , it is the largest municipality in Møre og Romsdal county. Gammaldans
Gammaldans (Swedish) or Gammeldans (Danish and Norwegian) (literally "old dance") is a small set of Nordic dances that became broadly popular in the late 19th century. These were also the dances of the Nordic immigrant communities in the United States. These are still danced socially and in dance groups and clubs and are often taught at some point during a child’s public school years. Most of these dances arose and became widely disseminated first at the beginning of the region's industrialization when communication between cities and smaller communities increased. Spellemannprisen, often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards in English, is a Norwegian music award presented to Norwegian musicians. The award was established by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), an organization that represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide. A piano accordion is an accordion equipped with a right-hand keyboard similar to a piano or organ. Its acoustic mechanism is more that of an organ than a piano, as they are both aerophones, but the term "piano accordion"—coined by Guido Deiro in 1910—has remained the popular name. It may be equipped with any of the available systems for the left-hand manual. In comparison with a piano keyboard, the keys are more rounded, smaller, and lighter to the touch. Norwegian National Association for Traditional Music and Dance(''Norsk Folkemusikk- og Danselag'') is a nationwide organization that aims to support the folk music and rural dance tradition in Norway. The organization (NFD) was founded in 1987 as a breakaway organization from the National Association of Folk Musicians (''Landslaget for Spelemenn'') which was founded in 1923.
