Giraffes? Giraffes! (often abbreviated as G? G!) are an American math rock band formed in 2001 in Massachusetts, by guitarist/drummer Kenneth Topham and guitarist Joseph Andreoli. Along with math rock, the band's music frequently touches on post-rock, progressive rock and experimental rock. History Ken Topham and Joseph Andreoli both grew up in Western Massachusetts and met at Keene State college in 2001. Topham studied Music Composition and Music History and Andreoli studied English. They met through mutual friends and connections in Keene's music scene. Some of their first practices and brain storming sessions were held in Topham's studio apartment on Court Street in Keene. Braid (band)
Braid is an American emo band from Champaign, Illinois, formed in 1993. Following several early line-up changes, the band eventually settled on Bob Nanna on guitar and vocals, Todd Bell on bass, Chris Broach on guitar and vocals, and Roy Ewing on drums until he was replaced in 1997 by new drummer Damon Atkinson. In 1998 the group released their third album, ''Frame & Canvas'', to critical acclaim and is considered a staple of the late 1990s emo movement. Despite ''Frame & Canvass success, Braid disbanded in 1999. Nanna, Bell, and Atkinson formed the more melodic Hey Mercedes, while Broach would dedicate more time to The Firebird Band which was previously a side project. is a Japanese rock band from Kyoto. The band was formed in 2010 by vocalist and guitarist Ikumi "Ikkyu" Nakajima, guitarist Motoko "Motifour" Kida and bassist Hiromi "Hirohiro" Sagane. Known for their intricate rhythms and visual identity, they have released seven full-length studio albums. Their musical style has been described by ''Rolling Stone'' as "adrenalized math rock sped up and given pop's candy coating". Ratboys are an American indie rock band from Chicago, Illinois formed in 2010 by Julia Steiner and Dave Sagan. The band consists of Julia Steiner (guitar, vocals), Dave Sagan (guitar), Marcus Nuccio (drums) and Sean Neumann (bass, vocals). No Joy
No Joy are a Canadian shoegaze band from Montreal formed in late 2009 by Jasamine White-Gluz and former member Laura Lloyd. Biography No Joy's first show was with Grant Hart of Husker Du on December 15, 2009. The band continued to play locally, including a show with then-up-and-coming indie band Best Coast. The latter's lead singer, Bethany Cosentino, took a liking to the band and tweeted, "Dude, No Joy is the best band ever. Two hot blonde girls just shredding away. Sooooo amazing". The band soon signed to Mexican Summer and released their first 7-inch single, "No Summer" b/w "No Joy".
