Top Chef Masters (season 3)
The third season of the American reality competition show ''Top Chef Masters'' was announced on March 2, 2011. In addition to the announcement, it was announced that celebrity chef Curtis Stone would serve as the new host. Food critic and author Ruth Reichl also joined as a new series judge And Critic James Osland Also Returned. The season premiered on April 6, 2011, with 12 award-winning chefs competing against each other in weekly challenges. Unlike previous seasons, the chefs were not judged on a five-star rating system, but in elimination-style challenges similar to the format of the original ''Top Chef'' series. Celina Tio is an American chef who won the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Mid-West Chef in 2007, has appeared on several ''Food Network'' television series, and owns The Belfry restaurant in Kansas City. Career Celina Tio trained at Drexel University. Her first culinary work was in the kitchen of a Bennigan's Irish pub-themed casual dining restaurant, after convincing the manager to take her on. She then began working at the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia. By the time she was 23, she was executive chef at the grill room within the hotel. She then moved to Florida, where she opened the Mediterranean restaurant Spoodles, the French restaurant Citricos, and the Northern Italian restaurant Palo for Walt Disney World. Kelis Rogers-Mora (; born August 21, 1979), known mononymously as Kelis, is an American singer, songwriter and a professionally trained chef. At age 14, she was admitted to New York's Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where she learned to play the saxophone and won a spot in the Girls Choir of Harlem. Meat Grinder
A meat grinder (also called a "meat mincer" in the UK) is a kitchen appliance for fine chopping ('mincing') and/or mixing of raw or cooked meat, fish, vegetables or similar food. It replaces tools like the mincing knife (which are also used in the preparation of minced meat, filling, etc.). The food to be minced is placed into a funnel, which sits on top of the grinder. From there, the material enters a horizontal screw conveyor; the screw conveyor may be hand-cranked or powered by an electric motor. The screw squashes and mixes the food. At the end of the screw, the food is passed through a fixed plate, where it exits the machine. The fineness of the minced food depends on the size of the holes in the plate. By changing the hole plate it is also possible to produce breadcrumbs or fill sausage casing. After the drop from the retainer, it is possible to change the hole plate.
