Too Much (Arnis Mednis Song)
Latvia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with the song "Too Much" written by Arnis Mednis and Gustavs Terzens. The song was performed by Arnis Mednis. The Latvian broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) organised the national final ''Eirodziesma 2001'' in order to select the Latvian entry for the 2001 contest in Copenhagen, Denmark. Ten songs were selected to compete in the national final on 24 February 2001 where a public televote and four thematical jury groups selected "Too Much" performed by Arnis Mednis as the winner. Latvia competed in the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 12 May 2001. Marija Naumova-Bullīta (born and professionally knows as Marija Naumova 23 June 1973) is a Latvian singer of Russian descent. Under the stage name Marie N, she sings a broad range of music ranging from pop to musical theatre and jazz, and has recorded several albums, with songs in Latvian, French, English, Russian and Portuguese. In 2002, she won the Eurovision Song Contest for Latvia with her song " I Wanna". Latvia In The Eurovision Song Contest
Latvia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 22 times since making its debut at the contest in 2000, where the group Brainstorm finished third with the song " My Star". Latvia won the contest in 2002, with Marie N and the song " I Wanna", defeating Malta by 12 points. Latvia is the second former Soviet country to win the contest. Renārs Kaupers (sometimes anglicised as Reynard Cowper; born 1 September 1974, in Jelgava) is a Latvian pop/rock singer, instrumentalist, and songwriter who is the vocalist of the band Prāta Vētra (known internationally as Brainstorm). Biography Kaupers graduated from University of Latvia in 1996 with a degree in journalism. He can speak at least three languages with fluency: English, Latvian, and Russian. Kaupers' ancestors were probably Baron Friedrich von Stuart from Courland (1761–1842) and Immanuel Kant's niece Henrietta Kant. Lithuania In The Eurovision Song Contest 2001
Lithuania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 in Copenhagen. SKAMP represented Lithuania with the song "You Got Style". They finished in 13th place with 35 points. Before Eurovision "Eurovizijos" dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka The final of the competition took place on 9 March 2001 at the Palace of Sports and Culture in Vilnius, hosted by Neringa Svetikaitė and Darius Užkuraitis. Edward van de Vendel (born 1 August 1964) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. Early life Van de Vendel was born in 1964 in Leerdam, Netherlands. He worked as a teacher for several years before becoming a full-time writer in 2001. Career Van de Vendel made his poetry debut in 1996 with ''Betrap me''. Zodiac (russian: link=no, Зодиак, lv, link=no, Zodiaks) was a Lativian space disco music band that existed in the 1980s in Latvia, then a part of Soviet Union. The band was extremely popular in the Soviet Union and has been credited by critics as the Soviet answer to the French band Space who were popular at the time. Biography Zodiac was formed by Jānis Lūsēns, then studying composition at the Latvian State Conservatory in Riga (now Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music). Mārtiņš Freimanis (7 February 1977 – 27 January 2011) was a Latvian musician, singer, songwriter, actor, and TV personality. Freimanis was born in Liepāja, but spent his childhood in Aizpute.
