Tony Wardle
Tony Wardle is a British journalist and writer. He co-authored, with Michael Mansfield, the 1993 book ''Presumed Guilty: British Legal System Exposed'', which criticised the British criminal justice system. He is a vegan and actively involved in the work of Viva!, an animal rights organisation of which he is an associate director. He is also editor of the magazine ''Viva!Life''. He was also a founding director of The Vegetarian and Vegan Foundation until its closure in 2013, along with Juliet Gellatley. He and filmmaker Yvette Vanson created Vanson Wardle Productions Ltd in 1981. He was a contestant on '' Come Dine with Me'' in 2008. Michael Mansfield
Michael Mansfield (born 12 October 1941) is an English barrister and head of chambers at Nexus Chambers. He was recently described as "The king of human rights work" by The Legal 500 and as a Leading Silk in civil liberties and human rights (including actions against the police). A British republican, vegetarian, socialist and self-described "radical lawyer", he has participated in prominent and controversial court cases and inquests involving accused IRA bombers, the Birmingham Six, Bloody Sunday massacre, the Hillsborough disaster and the deaths of Jean Charles de Menezes and Princess Diana and the McLibel case. Veganism
Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal product—particularly in diet—and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals. An individual who follows the diet or philosophy is known as a vegan. Distinctions may be made between several categories of veganism. Dietary vegans, also known as "strict vegetarians", refrain from consuming meat, eggs, dairy products, and any other animal-derived substances. An ethical vegan is someone who not only follows a plant-based diet but extends the philosophy into other areas of their lives, opposes the use of animals for any purpose, and tries to avoid any cruelty and exploitation of all animals including humans. Vegetarians' International Voice For Animals
Viva! is a British animal rights group, which focuses on promoting veganism. It was founded by Juliet Gellatley in 1994. Viva! carries out undercover investigations to expose the abuse of factory farmed animals and produces information on how to go vegan, including recipes and shopping guides. It is a registered charity. Overview Viva! is an animal rights' campaigning organisation, working on issues such as factory farming and slaughter and is based in Bristol, with a branch office in Poland. Juliet Gellatley
Juliet Gellatley is a British writer and animal rights activist. She is the founder and director of Vegetarians' International Voice for Animals, Viva! and a former director of the Vegetarian Society. She is also a founding director of The Vegetarian and Vegan Foundation, now known as Viva!Health, along with Tony Wardle, with whom she was married and has two sons, Jazz and Finn, born in 2002.
