Tony Trudgett
Tony Trudgett (born 29 March 1955) is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. He was a one time premiership winning player with St. George Dragons. Playing career Trudgett played for Oberon during his early career. He was signed by English club Workington Town for the 1974–75 season on the recommendation of Tony Paskins, who had played for Workington himself in the 1950s. He represented Illawarra and Country Seconds between 1976 and 1977, Sydney Seconds in 1979, and New South Wales against Great Britain in 1979. He transferred to St. George from Dapto in 1978 and played six seasons with the club between 1978 and 1983. Trudgett won a premiership with St. George in 1979. He had one last season at Penrith in 1985 where he made 21 appearances as the club made the finals for the first time in their history. St Marys, New South Wales
St Marys is a suburb in western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is 45 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Penrith. St Marys sits between South Creek which forms the western boundary and Ropes Creek, its eastern boundary. History The township of St Marys was first known as South Creek. The Bennett coach and wagon works manufactured horse-drawn wagons to meet the growing demand for transport in Sydney. There is a Bennett wagon on display in South Creek Park (on the northern side of the Great Western Hwy, east of South Creek). 1979 NSWRFL Season
The 1979 NSWRFL season was the 72nd season of Sydney's professional rugby league football competition, Australia's first. Twelve New South Wales Rugby Football League clubs competed for the J.J. Giltinan Shield and WD & HO Wills Cup during the season, which culminated in a grand final between the St. George and Canterbury-Bankstown clubs. NSWRFL teams also competed in the 1979 Amco Cup. Season summary Twenty-two regular season rounds were played from March till August, resulting in a top five of St. George, Parramatta, Cronulla-Sutherland, Western Suburbs and Canterbury-Bankstown who battled it out in the finals. Nambucca Heads, New South Wales
Nambucca Heads is a town on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia in the Nambucca Valley. It is located on a ridge, north of the estuary of the Nambucca River near the Pacific Highway. Its 2021 population was 6,675 (6,327 in 2016 census, 6,137 in 2011 census), including 5,226 (78.3%) Australian-born persons and 672 indigenous persons. The place name is derived from an Gumbaynggirr word Ngambagabaga. Parramatta Eels
The Parramatta Eels are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta that competes in the National Rugby League. The Parramatta District Rugby League Football Club was formed in 1947, and their home ground was Parramatta Stadium (formerly Cumberland Oval). As of 2019, Parramatta's home ground stadium has been rebuilt and they now play as the co-tenants at Western Sydney Stadium, which sits on the same site that was once Parramatta Stadium. It took thirty years for the club to make the grand final, which they did in 1976 and 1977, losing on both occasions. However, this period foreshadowed their most successful period in the early 1980s, when they won four premierships and qualified for five grand finals in six seasons. Tony Paskins
Tony Paskins (5 December 1927 – 15 August 2019) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) and English Rugby Football League (RFL) competitions as well as playing rugby union for the Randwick club in Sydney. Playing career Paskins was recruited from Sydney's Randwick rugby union club by English rugby league club Workington Town. Tony Paskins played right- in Workington Town's 18–10 victory over Featherstone Rovers in the 1951–52 Challenge Cup Final d at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 19 April 1952, in front of a crowd of 72,093.
