Tony Lourey
Tony Lourey (born August 15, 1967) is an American politician. He is a former Minnesota commissioner of human services and former Democratic–Farmer–Labor (DFL) member of the Minnesota Senate, representing District 11. Early life, education, and career Lourey was born in Pine County, Minnesota. He attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, Hamline University School of Law, and William Mitchell College of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctor in 2011. Before his election to the Senate, he was a township supervisor of Kerrick Township, Minnesota, Kerrick Township for eight years. Tim Walz
Timothy James Walz ( ; born April 6, 1964) is an American politician and retired educator. A member of the Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), he has served as the 41st governor of Minnesota since 2019. Born in West Point, Nebraska, Walz was a member of the Army National Guard, and was a temporary teacher on a reservation in South Dakota after high school. He later graduated from Chadron State College and Minnesota State University, Mankato. He moved to Minnesota in 1996. Before running for Congress in 2006, he served for 24 years in the Army National Guard and as a social studies teacher in the Mankato school district. Walz was the U.S. representative for from 2007 to 2019. He was first elected in 2006, defeating six-term Republican incumbent Gil Gutknecht. He was reelected five times. Kerrick Township is a township in Pine County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 272 at the 2000 census. Kerrick Township was named for Cassius M. Kerrick, a railroad engineer. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which is land and (2.70%) is water. Demographics At the 2000 census, there were 272 people, 121 households and 78 families residing in the township. The population density was 8.0 per square mile (3.1/km). There were 218 housing units at an average density of 6.4/sq mi (2.5/km). The racial makeup of the township was 98.53% White, 0.74% Native American, and 0.74% from two or more races. Hjalmar Petersen (January 2, 1890March 29, 1968) was an American politician who served as the List of Governors of Minnesota, 23rd Governor of Minnesota. Background Hjalmar Petersen was born in Eskildstrup, Denmark to Lauritz and Anna Petersen, who moved with Hjalmar to Chicago, Illinois shortly after his birth. They later moved to the Danebod in Tyler, Minnesota. Petersen attended school until the seventh grade. His career in journalism, which had begun in 1904, culminated in his purchase in 1914 of the ''Askov American'' in Askov, Minnesota, a weekly newspaper he owned for the rest of his life. The ''Star Tribune'' is the largest newspaper in Minnesota. It originated as the ''Minneapolis Tribune'' in 1867 and the competing ''Minneapolis Daily Star'' in 1920. Kanabec County, Minnesota
Kanabec County ( ) is a county in the East Central part of U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 16,032. Its county seat is Mora. History The Minnesota legislature authorized creation of Kanabec County on March 13, 1858, with territory partitioned from Pine County. No county seat was designated at that time, and the county organization was not effected at that time. The county name came from the Ojibwe term ''ginebig'', meaning "snake," after the Snake River — ''Kanabecosippi'' (''Ginebigo-ziibi'' in the modern spelling) — which flows through the county. The area of Kanabec County was attached to Chisago County for administrative and judicial purposes.
