Tony Hunt (judge)
Tony Hunt is an Irish judge who has served as a Judge of the High Court since October 2014, and is the senior presiding judge of the Special Criminal Court. He previously served as a Judge of the Circuit Court from 2007 and 2014. Education Hunt attended University College Dublin from where he obtained a BCL degree in 1984. He subsequently attended the King's Inns to study to become a barrister. Legal career Hunt was called to the Bar in 1986. He was an appointee of the Bar Council to the Superior Court Rules Committee. Much of his practice was spent appearing in criminal trials as prosecuting counsel for the Director of Public Prosecutions. He acted in trials involving assault, sexual assault, manslaughter, drugs offences, and tax offences. He acted for defendants in traffic offences, and sexual assault cases. Ashling Murphy (6 July 1998 – 12 January 2022) was an Irish primary school teacher, traditional Irish musician and camogie player who was murdered in January 2022 while walking on the towpath of the Grand Canal at Cappincur, outside Tullamore, County Offaly. Her death gave rise to widespread public grief, as well as outrage over violence against women, and tens of thousands of people attended vigils in her memory. The President of Ireland, Michael D. Kidnapping Of Kevin Lunney
On 17 September 2019 Kevin Lunney, chief operating officer of Quinn Industrial Holdings, was abducted from his home near Derrylin, beaten and left near Drumcoghill, County Cavan. Abduction On the 17 September 2019, he drove into the laneway leading to his home and noticed a white car ahead of him, which quickly reversed into his car. He locked the doors but two men smashed the windows and dragged him out. A third man threatened him with a Stanley knife, telling him to get into the boot of a black Audi. The attackers then set Lunneys' car and the white car on fire. Lunney managed to unlock the boot and tried to escape but was beaten and thrown back into the car. He was then driven across the border to County Cavan to a place he described as "an old farmyard space" and taken inside a horsebox. The man with the knife said, "You know why you're here. Dessie O'Hare
Dessie O'Hare (born 26 October 1956), also known as "The Border Fox", is an Irish republican paramilitary who was once the most wanted man in Ireland. O'Hare was originally in the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) but left in the late 1970s following a series of disciplinary clashes. He later joined the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA). After kidnapping a Dublin dentist and cutting off two of his fingers in 1987 he was imprisoned until 2006, when he was granted extended temporary release. Early life O'Hare was born in Keady, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, into a family with a strong republican background. Gareth Hutch was shot dead in Dublin on Tuesday 24 May 2016. He was a nephew of Gerry Hutch. He was also a cousin of Gary Hutch and a nephew of Eddie Hutch Snr.
