Tony Hearn
David Anthony Hearn (born 4 March 1929), known as Tony Hearn, is a former British trade union leader. Hearn attended Trinity College, Oxford. He began working for the Association of Broadcasting Staff (ABS) in 1955, as assistant to the General Secretary, Leslie Littlewood. He moved up through the ranks, becoming one of the Assistant General Secretaries, Deputy General Secretary and eventually General Secretary in 1972. John Wilson (trade Unionist)
John Wilson (1920 or 1921–1996) was a British trade unionist. Born in Aberdeen, Wilson trained as a cinema projectionist and became active in the National Association of Theatrical and Kine Employees. He was elected president of this union in 1954, serving for two years, and again in 1966. Roger William Bolton (7 September 1947, Dublin, Ireland – 18 November 2006, Woking, Surrey) was a British trade unionist. Roger Bolton left Dublin with his family in 1958 when they moved to London. He began his career as a photographic technician at Boots the Chemist before moving to the BBC and became a prominent member of the BBC trade union, the Association of Broadcasting Staff (ABS). Alan Sapper
Alan Sapper (18 March 1931 – 19 May 2006) was a British people, British trade unionist. Born in Hammersmith, Sapper studied at the Latymer Upper School, then worked as a botanist at Kew Gardens while studying with the University of London External Programme. He became active in the Institution of Professional Civil Servants, then in 1958 moved to work for the Association of Cinematograph, Television and Allied Technicians, initially also undertaking scriptwriting. He was General Secretary of the Writers' Guild of Great Britain from 1964, before returning to ACTT as General Secretary, serving until 1991, when the union merged with the Association of Broadcasting Staffs to form the Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph and Allied Trades Union (BECTU) of which he was briefly Joint General Secretary. Asa Briggs, Baron Briggs (7 May 1921 – 15 March 2016) was an English historian. He was a leading specialist on the Victorian era, and the foremost historian of broadcasting in Britain. Briggs achieved international recognition during his long and prolific career for examining various aspects of modern British history. He became a life peer in 1976. Early life Asa Briggs was born in Keighley, West Riding of Yorkshire in 1921 to William Briggs, an engineer, and his wife Jane.
