Tony Frangieh Jr.
Tony Frangieh (; born 22 September 1987) is a Lebanese politician who serves as member of parliament since 2018. He is a member of the Marada Movement and the son of its leader, Suleiman Frangieh. Early life and family Franjieh was born on 22 September 1987, in the town of Zgharta to the Maronite Christian Frangieh family. His father, Suleiman Frangieh Jr., is the head of the Marada Movement and was a former Lebanese MP. His biological mother is Marian Sarkis and has one brother and a half-sister. He holds a university degree in economics from the University of Balamand, and a master's degree in economics from the City University of London. On 28 September 2019, MP Frangieh sealed his union to Saida-born Lynn Zeidan in an open to all celebration attended by all the town. They both have 3 children. Lebanese Parliament
The Lebanese Parliament ( ar, مجلس النواب, translit=Majlis an-Nuwwab; french: Chambre des députés) is the national parliament of the Republic of Lebanon. There are 128 members elected to a four-year term in multi-member constituencies, apportioned among Lebanon's diverse Christian and Muslim denominations but with half of the seats reserved for Christians and half reserved to Muslims per Constitutional Article 24. Lebanon has universal adult suffrage. Marada Movement
The Marada Movement ( ar, تيار المردة, translit=Tayyār Al-Marada) is a Lebanese political party and a former militia active during the Lebanese Civil War named after the legendary Marada (also called Mardaites) warriors of the early Middle Ages that fought on the external edge of the Byzantine Empire. Originally designated the Marada Brigade ( ''Liwa al-Marada''), the group initially emerged as the personal militia of Suleiman Frangieh, president of Lebanon at the outbreak of the war in 1975. Zgharta
Zgharta ( ar, زغرتا, syc, ܙܓܪܬܐ), also spelled Zghorta, is a city in North Lebanon, with an estimated population of around 50,000. It is the second biggest city in Northern Lebanon after Tripoli. Zgharta is about 150 metres above sea level and lies between the rivers of Jouit and Rashein. It is 23 kilometres from Ehden, 11 kilometres from the coastal city of Tripoli, 88.7 kilometres from the capital of Lebanon, Beirut, and 82 kilometres from the nearest Syrian city, Tartous. Its history and people are closely associated with the village of Ehden. Most of the citizens of Zgharta have summer houses in Ehden. University Of Balamand
The University of Balamand (UOB; ar, جامعة البلمند) is a private institution, secular in its policies and approach to education. It welcomes faculty, students, and staff from all faiths and national or ethnic origins. The university is located in the northern district of El-Koura, Lebanon. It was founded by the Orthodox Patriarch Ignatius IV of Antioch in 1988. The university's main campus is adjacent to Balamand Monastery, but it has two other campuses in Beirut: One is in Sin el Fil, which houses the majority of the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts, and the other neighbors Saint George Hospital in Achrafieh, which houses the faculty for medicine and medical sciences. 2018 Lebanese General Election
General elections were held in Lebanon on 6 May 2018. 2022 Lebanese General Election
The 2022 Lebanese general election is the upcoming general election in Lebanon, scheduled for 15 May 2022. Background 2019–21 protests Large-scale anti-government demonstrations ignited in the country from 17 October. Suleiman Frangieh (politician, Born 1965)
Suleiman Antoine Frangieh ( ar, سليمان بك فرنجية; born 18 October 1965) is a Lebanese politician. He is the incumbent leader of the Marada Movement and a former Member of Parliament for the Maronite seat of Zgharta-Zawyie, in North Lebanon. Early life Suleiman was born in Zgharta, Lebanon on 18 October 1965 to a political family who claim to be the decedents of the Mardaits. He is the son of the late Tony Frangieh, who was assassinated in the Ehden massacre in 1978, and grandson of the former Lebanese President Suleiman Frangieh and as such, carries his grandfather's name. Samir Frangieh was Suleiman's cousin once removed. Suleiman Frangieh's grandfather brought him to Syria after the Ehden massacre, which was perpetrated by rival Maronite Kataeb Party militia forces.
