Tony Doyle (actor)
Michael Anthony Doyle (21 July 1935 – 28 January 2000) was an Irish television and film actor. He became widely known in Ireland as a then-radical priest in the popular Irish rural drama ''The Riordans'', which began in 1965. He worked consistently in series, television films, and feature films throughout his life. He died unexpectedly in 2000, at the time playing in another well-known Irish rural drama, ''Ballykissangel''. Acting career He first came to prominence playing a liberal Catholic priest - Father Sheehy - in RTÉ's iconic rural drama ''The Riordans''. He appeared in such popular shows as ''Coronation Street'', '' Between the Lines'', ''1990'', ''Children of the North'' and ''Ballykissangel'', and won an Irish Film and Television Academy Award for best leading performance for his role in the 1998 miniseries ''Amongst Women''. Anthony Paul Doyle (born 19 May 1958) is a British former professional cyclist. Biography Doyle was world pursuit champion in 1980 and 1986. He was a professional between 1980 and 1995, riding for British teams. Doyle represented England and won two bronze medals in the 4,000 metres individual and team pursuit events, at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He finished seventh in the team pursuit at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow as part of the British team. He was not selected for the individual pursuit even though he was the national champion. The place went to Sean Yates. As a result, Doyle turned professional and won the world professional pursuit championship, beating Bert Oosterbosch and Herman Ponsteen. He then raced six-day track races with a variety of partners before achieving great results partnering the Australian Danny Clark. Anthony Kenneth "Tony" Doyle (8 May 1953 – 23 December 1994) was an Australian politician. He was the Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch), Labor member for Electoral district of Peats, Peats in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1985 to 1994. The son of Ken and Coralie Doyle, he was educated at Ku-ring-gai and then the University of New South Wales, where he received a Bachelor of Arts. He worked as a legal assistant, a clerical assistant with the Australian Broadcasting Commission and as executive officer to the New South Wales Attorney-General. He was also involved in the Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch), Labor Party, being secretary of the Umina, New South Wales, Umina-Ettalong, New South Wales, Ettalong Branch 1977–84.
