	Tony Currie (broadcaster) Tony Currie (born 1951) is a Scottish broadcaster who worked as a continuity announcer for BBC Scotland. Career He began working at KPFK Radio in Los Angeles in 1972 before joining Scotland's first independent local radio station, Radio Clyde as its first voice on the air. In April 1976, he joined Scottish Television as a continuity announcer, after freelancing at the station as a trail voiceover. He became chief announcer reading the daily lunchtime and late-evening Scottish News bulletins and bulletins within the nightly regional news programme, ''Scotland Today''. After leaving STV in January 1987, he became Controller of Programmes for the Cable Authority and, latterly, cable programming controller for the Independent Television Commission. 	Tony Currie (footballer) Anthony William Currie (born 1 January 1950) is an English former footballer who had significant spells for Sheffield United, Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers as well as representing England. He was an effervescent and exuberant attacking midfield player with the vision and ability to strike long dangerous passes. His nephew, Darren Currie, was also a midfielder. Career Currie was a talented schoolboy footballer who represented Hendon Boys before joining Queens Park Rangers as an amateur, whilst working for a building firm. He joined Chelsea as an apprentice, but was released and moved to Watford to complete his apprenticeship, earning England Youth honours in the process. 	Tony Currie (ice Hockey) Anthony Currie (born November 12, 1957) is a Canadian former ice hockey forward who spent 8 seasons in the National Hockey League between 1977 and 1985 with the St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks, and Hartford Whalers. Currie also spent several years in the minor leagues, and the last several years of his career were spent in Europe, where he played in Germany, Switzerland, and Italy, retiring in 1990. Early life Currie was born in Sydney Mines. As a youth, he played in the 1970 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Oromocto. Career Currie was a selected 63rd overall in the 1977 NHL amateur draft by the St. Louis Blues following a 73-goal season for the Portland Winter Hawks of the WHL. 	Tony Currie (rugby League) Tony Currie (born 25 December 1962) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. He is of Aboriginal descent and played for the Australian side, State of Origin for Queensland. At club level he played for the Brisbane Broncos, and the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in Australia, appearing in premiership-winning sides for both teams, as well as Leeds in England. Playing career In 1982, while playing with Western Suburbs, Currie won the Brisbane Rugby League premiership's Rothmans Medal. The second Bahamian to reach the major leagues (after André Rodgers), Curry also played cricket and association football in his native country before turning to baseball. He was listed as tall and (13 stone, 3 pounds); Curry threw and batted left-handed. Curry's 12-year (1957–68) professional career got off to a promising start. He batted .333, .293, and .313 during his first three Minor League Baseball (MiLB) seasons, with extra-base power.
