Tony Adams (safety)
Tony Adams (born January 24, 1999) is an American professional football safety for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Illinois and was signed by the Jets as an undrafted free agent in . College career Adams played at Illinois from 2017 to 2021. On October 26, 2019, against Purdue, he had a 13-yard interception return for a touchdown. Professional career Adams signed with the New York Jets on April 30, 2022, following the 2022 NFL draft. He made the Jets' 53 man roster following roster cuts. As a rookie, he appeared in 11 games and made one start, which came in Week 18 against the Miami Dolphins. On October 15, 2023, in the Jets’ Week 6 game versus the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles, Adams intercepted Jalen Hurts with 2 minutes left in the game and returned it 45 yards to the Eagles’ 8 yard line. Safety is a position in gridiron football on the American football positions#Defense, defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. Jalen Alexander Hurts (born August 7, 1998) is an American football quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played his first three seasons of college football at Alabama, where he was part of the team that won the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship, and used his final year of eligibility at Oklahoma. Selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Hurts became their starter near the end of his rookie season. Early years Hurts attended Channelview High School in Channelview, Texas. Hurts's father, Averion, was the football coach at Channelview High School throughout his son's high school career. The 2022 NFL Draft was the 87th edition of the National Football League's annual draft and was held from April 28–30, 2022, at the Caesars Forum on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The first round was held on Thursday, April 28, and was followed by the second and third rounds on Friday, April 29. The draft concluded with rounds 4–7 on Saturday, April 30. It was the first draft to be held in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. The first five selections were defensive players, the second-most taken at the start of a draft after the six in 1991.
