Tonna RFC
Tonna Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team from the village of Tonna, Wales. Tonna RFC is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for the Ospreys. History Although it is believed that Tonna RFC existed before 1888, the club was first mentioned during the 1887/88 season, when the Cambria Daily Reader stated that Tonna RFC were drawn to play Mynydd-bach in the local Neath cup challenge. It is therefore regarded that Tonna RFC came into being on 28 February 1888. Tonna RFC's first international player was David Harris Davies. Although he played for Neath RFC at the time of his one and only cap against Scotland in 1904, he came through the playing ranks of Tonna. The club disbanded after the outbreak of the First World War, but reformed as Dulais United after the war ended. Tonna, Neath
Tonna ( cy, Tonnau) is the name of a village and community in Neath Port Talbot, Wales, located to the north-east of Neath. Immediately between Tonna and the adjoining parish of Llanilltud ("Llantwit-juxta-Neath") is a cottage once occupied by the Welsh-born engineer and naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace, who had arrived at his theory of evolution independently of Charles Darwin, with whom he later corresponded. Eventually Wallace and Darwin jointly presented the first paper on Natural Selection to the Linnean Society. The village's rugby union team is Tonna RFC. Toponymy Once mainly agricultural fields, the name derives from the archaic Welsh ''tonnau'', meaning lea or grassland and not, as is sometimes assumed, the modern Welsh for "waves". Aberdulais
Aberdulais is a village and electoral ward in Neath Port Talbot, Wales, lying on the River Neath, in the community (Wales), community of Blaenhonddan. The village grew around the Aberdulais Falls, the site of successive industries and now a hydro-electric station. Leigh Davies is a former international Wales rugby union player. A centre, he was known for his strength and direct running. Craig Mitchell (born 3 May 1986) is a retired Wales international rugby union player. He previously played for Aviva Premiership side Exeter Chiefs. He subsequently joined Newport Gwent Dragons and he was released at the end of the 2016–17 season. Mitchell's position of choice was a prop. Club career Mitchell made his debut for the Ospreys in 2006, but had to wait until 2009 to make his first start for the club, the milestone coming against Leinster on 18 September. In 2011, Mitchell departed the Ospreys for the Exeter Chiefs, and spent three seasons with the newly promoted side. David Alan Edmunds (born 8 October 1961) is a Welsh former rugby union international. A Neath Grammar School product, Edmunds competed for Neath RFC and scored a try against the touring 1989 All Blacks, which was one of 45 tries he scored with Neath in the 1988/89 season. Arthur Whitelock Lemon (15 April 1905 – 28 May 1982) was a Welsh international number 8 who played club rugby for Neath and was capped 13 times for Wales, then later switched codes to play rugby league for St Helens when he found that he had been dropped from the Wales team. International rugby career Lemon made his international debut for Wales in a game against Ireland on 9 March 1929 under the captaincy of Guy Morgan. Wales drew the game, which handed the Championship to Scotland. Although Lemon missed the opening game of the 1930 Five Nations Championship against England, he was reselected for the remaining three games.
