Toninho Mendes
Antônio de Souza Mendes Neto (30 April 195418 January 2017), better known as Toninho Mendes, was a Brazilian editor. He started working in the 1960s, going through several publishers and alternative newspapers, such as ''Movimento'' and ''Versus''. In 1984, Mendes founded Circo Editorial, considered the most important Brazilian publishing house of alternative comics in the 1980s and 1990s. Itapeva is a city in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The population is 94,804 (2020 est.) in an area of 1826.26 km². History The city was founded as a village in the beginning of the 18th century. Laerte
Laerte Coutinho (born 10 June 1951), known mainly as simply Laerte, is a Brazilian cartoonist and screenwriter, known for creating comic strips such as ''Piratas do Tietê'' (''Pirates of the Tietê River''). She was part of the Brazilian underground comics scene of the 1980s. Together with Angeli and Glauco (and later Adão Iturrusgarai) she drew the collaborative comic strip '. She has done work for publications such as ''Balão'', ''O Pasquim'', and ''Chiclete com Banana'' magazines, and draws regularly for ''Folha de S. Paulo'' newspaper. Since the mid 2000s, her strips have become more "philosophical" and less humor-focused, relying less on recurring characters. She is a transgender woman. Angeli (cartoonist)
Arnaldo Angeli Filho, more commonly known as Angeli, born August 31, 1956, in São Paulo, Brazil, is one of the best-known Brazilian cartoonists. Angeli already had strips published in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, and Portugal, where a compilation of its work was launched by Devir publishing company in 2000. Two animated feature films based on his work were released: the 2006 film '' Wood & Stock: Sexo, Orégano e Rock'n'Roll'', directed by Otto Guerra, and the 2021 stop-motion film ''"Bob Spit: We Do Not Like People, directed by César Cabral. He started at the age of 14 at magazine Senhor, as well as publishing material in independent fanzines. Glauco Villas Boas
Glauco Villas Boas (March 10, 1957 – March 12, 2010) was a Brazilian illustrator, cartoonist and religious leader. He belonged to the Villas-Bôas brothers family. Early life and career In 1976, Glauco moved to Ribeirão Preto and, after being discovered by journalist José Hamilton Ribeiro, published his first works on newspaper ''Diário da Manhã''. One year later, he was awarded the International Humor Exhibition of Piracicaba by a jury made up of Jaguar, Millor Fernandes, Henfil and Angeli, and the 2nd Biennial of Graphic Humor and Cuba. In 1984, invited by Angeli, he began publishing at the ''Ilustrada'' section of newspaper Folha de S. Universo HQ ("Comics Universe") is a Brazilian website about comics and considered the most important Brazilian information source on comics-related news. History Universo HQ was created by Samir Naliato and first aired on January 5, 2000. After six months, he invited the journalist Sidney Gusman to become the website's editor. Gusman also invited Sérgio Codespoti and Marcelo Naranjo to work with them, followed by many different collaborators during the years.
