Tonight (Silk Album)
''Tonight'' is the third studio album by American R&B group Silk, released on March 23, 1999 on Elektra Entertainment. It was their first album in four years and the reason for the break was due to the group wanting to be more involved in the creative process. Another reason for the hiatus was due to the lackluster performance of their previous album ''Silk'' (1995), which caused the group to seek new management after dealing with financial and legal issues. After severing ties with their former managers, they were managed by Sonja Norwood, mother of singer/actress Brandy Norwood. They were soon given the green light to record a new album by Elektra's then-president Sylvia Rhone, who let them take their time to record the album until they had the right songs. Silk is an American R&B group, formed in 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia. They are best known for their 1993 hit single, "Freak Me", which reached number-one on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Career Silk is best known for their hit singles, "Freak Me", and "Happy Days" from their debut album, '' Lose Control''. Another hit from ''Lose Control'', "Girl U For Me", helped the album reach double platinum status. LSG is an R&B supergroup, composed of R&B artists Gerald Levert from Cleveland, Ohio, Keith Sweat from Harlem, New York and Johnny Gill from Washington, D.C. The group's name "LSG" is derived from the first letter in the last name of each artist (Levert, Sweat, Gill). In 1997, LSG released their debut album titled '' Levert.Sweat.Gill''. Vaughn Harper
Vaughn Harper (March 1, 1945 – July 9, 2016) was an American broadcast announcer and DJ. Early life Harper played high school basketball at Boys High School (Brooklyn), Boys High School in Brooklyn and was an All American standout rebounder that played in the National Invitation Tournament, NIT tournament with his alma mater Syracuse University. After spending a brief stint with the Continental Basketball Association, CBA which garnered him a try-out with the Detroit Pistons, he was selected in the sixth round of the NBA draft as their #57 pick. Harper was not chosen by the team. Orangeman Harper played on the Orangemen squad as a starter from 1966 to 1968, as a sophomore he started in all but three games for Syracuse in the NCAA East Region tourney. Lincoln Browder, (born October 12, 1964) better known by his stage name Link, is an American R&B singer from Dallas, Texas. Career Browder sang in gospel choirs as a youngster and in a group in high school. Darrell Delite Allamby recruited him to sing in the R&B group Protege. After writing the hit " My Body" for the R&B supergroup LSG, Link was offered his own recording contract with Relativity Records. "Freak Me" is a song by American R&B group Silk. It was released in February 1993 as the second single from their debut album, '' Lose Control''. It was co-written and co-produced by Keith Sweat, for whom Silk was a touring opening act. Tim Cameron, Jimmy Gates and Gary "Lil G" Jenkins sing lead on the song. The song was the group's highest-charting hit, reaching number-one on both the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 for two weeks, and the U.S. Hot R&B Singles chart for eight weeks. On the Hot 100, this song also spent ten weeks at number two. It was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and sold over 1.3 million copies domestically.
