The Tonga women's national rugby union team ( to, timi feohi ʻakapulu fakafonua fefine ʻa Tonga) are a national sporting side of Tonga, representing them at rugby union. They compete annually in the Oceania Rugby Women's Championship. History Tonga played their first international test match against Fiji women's national rugby union team, Fiji in 2006 at the Women's Pacific Tri-Nations. Tonga joined the Oceania Rugby Women's Championship in 2018. They recorded their first and biggest win at the 2018 Oceania Rugby Women's Championship, 2018 Oceania Championship over Papua New Guinea women's national rugby union team, Papua New Guinea with a score of 62–26. Tonga Rugby Union
The Tonga Rugby Union is the governing body of the sport of rugby union in Tonga. They are members of the Pacific Islands Rugby Alliance (PIRA) along with Fiji and Samoa. There is a rugby union playing population of fewer than 800 out of a total population of 100,000. They were formed in 1923, and joined the International Rugby Board in 1987 when they were invited to play in the inaugural Rugby World Cup. National teams The Tonga national rugby union team is nicknamed ''Ikale Tahi (Sea Eagles)''. Like their Polynesian neighbours, the Tongans start their matches with a war dance – the Sipi Tau. 2022 Oceania Rugby Women's Championship
The 2022 Oceania Rugby Women's Championship is the fourth edition of the Oceania Rugby Women's Championship. The competition will be held in Papakura and Pukekohe in New Zealand from 9 to 18 July. The tournament returns for the first time since 2019. It will be the first time that Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Tonga will play since 2020 and will provide Fiji with valuable preparation ahead of the 2021 Rugby World Cup. The tournament will be played over three rounds at Massey Park and the Navigation Homes Stadium. Fiji won their third championship title after beating Samoa 31–24 in a hard-fought match. Eddie Aholelei
Eddie Aholelei (born 3 December 1981) is a retired professional rugby union footballer. His regular playing position is prop. Early career Aholelei is of Tongan descent. He was born in Auckland, New Zealand but grew up in Tonga most of his life with his parents and 4 brothers and represented Tonga at Under 19 World Cup 2000 in France. Aholelei moved to Sydney, Australia after high school and joined the Manly Marlins rugby club colts in 2001. Twelve seasons later, Aholelei played his 200th grade game for Manly against Parramatta in Round 9 of the 2012 Shute Shield and played 135 games in 1st grade . Queensland Reds (Super W)
The Queensland Reds Women, or Queensland Reds (Super W), are an Australian women's rugby union team based in Brisbane, Queensland that compete in the annual Super W competition. A female rugby union competition, is considered to be the female equivalent of the Super Rugby, however only holds Australian teams (until 2022). New Zealand holds a similar competition, the Super Rugby Aupiki. The Brumbies Women are an Australian rugby union team based in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The team competes in the annual Super W competition. GPS Rugby Club, colloquially known as GPS, is an Australian rugby union club based at Ashgrove in Brisbane that plays in the Queensland Premier Rugby competition.
