Tong Mingqian
Tong Mingqian (; born June 23, 1958) is a former Chinese politician. At the height of his political career he served as the Communist Party Secretary of the cities of Shaoyang and Hengyang, before becoming the Vice-Chairman of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a largely ceremonial legislative consultation body. He was removed from office in December 2013 and placed under investigation by the Communist Party's anti-graft agency. Tong, as party chief of Hengyang, was the top official in charge of the overseeing the elections of delegates to the provincial People's Congress from the city in late 2012 and early 2013. Local media reported that several dozen delegates attempted to exchange money for votes during the municipal People's Congress. The 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party was held November 8-15, 2012 at the Great Hall of the People. It was preceded by the 17th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party.
