Tondiarpet Railway Station
Tondiarpet railway station is one of the railway station of the Chennai Central–Gummidipoondi section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. It serves the neighbourhood of Tondiarpet, a suburb of Chennai, and is located 5 km north of Chennai Central railway station. It has an elevation of 5 m above sea level. History The lines at the station were electrified on 13 April 1979, with the electrification of the Chennai Central–Gummidipoondi section. Diesel loco shed Tondiarpet diesel loco shed is located to the north of the station. Established in 1972 with the induction of a WDS4B-model diesel locomotive (WDS4B #19202), the shed was built to cater the shunting requirements of the marshalling yard at Tondiarpet, the goods sheds at Royapuram and Salt Cotaurs, and the coaching depot at Basin Bridge in Chennai division. Gummidipoondi is an industrial town in Chennai Metropolitan Region of Thiruvallur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Basin Bridge
Basin Bridge Junction is a station on the Chennai Suburban Railway and serves the locality of Basin Bridge, the confluence on the Otteri Nullah and Buckingham Canal, in Chennai, India. The station is located at the southern end of the 'diamond' junction in Chennai, where all the lines of the Chennai Suburban Railway meet. It is the first station after Chennai Central. At this station, the line divides into three: one going towards Avadi and Arakkonam, the other towards Ennore and Gummidipoondi, and the third towards Chennai Beach and Chennai Egmore. Thus, the station acts as the entry point to Chennai Central terminus where inbound trains from all the three lines are stopped before assigning a platform at Chennai Central. Salt Cotaurs
Salt Cotaurs is a neighbourhood in Chennai, India. It is located on the bank of the Buckingham Canal, north of Chennai Central railway station, between the Elephant Gate Bridge Road and Basin Bridge railway station. V. O. C. Nagar railway station is one of the railway station if the Chennai Central–Gummidipoondi section of the Chennai Suburban Railway. It was previously known as Tondiarpet Marshalling Yard railway station. It serves the neighbourhood of Tondiarpet, a suburb of Chennai, and is located 6 km north of Chennai Central railway station. It has an elevation of 5 m above sea level. The railway station is mostly used by railway employees since it is very close to many railway establishments.
