Tonbridge Grammar School is a state school, state Grammar school, grammar school in Tonbridge, Kent, United Kingdom. The school was established in 1905 at the Technical Institute in Avebury Avenue Tonbridge, having only 19 enrolled students. Today, the school is situated in the South of Tonbridge, where there are approximately 1050 students ranging from 11 to 18 years. Previously known as Tonbridge Grammar School for Girls, but with the introduction of boys in the sixth form in 2002, the school changed its name. Tonbridge Grammar School has served years as an International Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate World School, and of 2014 was announced as best International Baccalaureate state school in the United Kingdom for the sixth consecutive year. Victoria Hislop
Victoria Hislop (née Hamson; born 1959) is an English author. Early life Born in Bromley, Kent, she was raised in Tonbridge and attended Tonbridge Grammar School. She studied English at St Hilda's College, Oxford, and worked in publishing and as a journalist before becoming an author. Career Her novel '' The Island'' (2005) was a number-one bestseller in Britain, its success in part the result of having been selected by the ''Richard & Judy Book Club'' for their 2006 Summer Reads. South Northamptonshire was, from 1974 to 2021, a district in Northamptonshire, England. Its council was based in the town of Towcester, first established as a settlement in Roman Britain. Diana Lynn Wallis OBE FISTD FRAD (born 11 December 1946) has been the artistic director of the Royal Academy of Dance for 22 years, from 1994 and will be retiring at the end of 2016. Rebecca Stephens (born 3 October 1961) is a British author and journalist, known for being the first British woman to climb the Seven Summits, and the first British woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Career Stephens originally trained as a journalist and pursued that career for some ten years, becoming deputy editor of the ''Financial Times'' magazine ''Resident Abroad''. In 1989 Stephens accompanied an expedition attempting the North East Ridge of Mount Everest.
