Santo Domingo Tonalá is a town and municipality in Oaxaca in south-western Mexico. The municipality covers an area of km². It is part of the Huajuapan District in the north of the Mixteca Region The Mixteca Region is a region in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, part of the broader La Mixteca area which covers parts of the states of Puebla, Guerrero and Oaxaca. Tonalá () is a city and municipality within the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area in the state of Jalisco in Mexico. With a population of 374,258, it is the fourth largest city in the state, the other three being the other major population centres in the metro area: Guadalajara, Zapopan, and Tlaquepaque. It is best known as a major handcrafts center for Jalisco, especially pottery, as well as its very large Thursday and Sunday street market, dedicated to handcrafts. Tonalá is one of the 119 municipalities of Chiapas, in southern Mexico. As of 2010, the municipality had a total population of 84,594, up from 78,438 as of 2005. It covers an area of 1766.2 km². As of 2010, the city of Tonalá had a population of 35,322.
