Czech Language
Czech (; Czech ), historically also Bohemian (; ''lingua Bohemica'' in Latin), is a West Slavic language of the Czech–Slovak group, written in Latin script. Spoken by over 10 million people, it serves as the official language of the Czech Republic. Czech is closely related to Slovak, to the point of high mutual intelligibility, as well as to Polish to a lesser degree. Czech is a fusional language with a rich system of morphology and relatively flexible word order. Its vocabulary has been extensively influenced by Latin and German. The Czech–Slovak group developed within West Slavic in the high medieval period, and the standardization of Czech and Slovak within the Czech–Slovak dialect continuum emerged in the early modern period. Tomas Mezera
Tomas Mezera (born 5 November 1958 in Czechoslovakia) is a naturalised Australian racing driver. Mezera won the 1988 Bathurst 1000, and for many years was a member of the Holden Racing Team as both a driver and team manager. Mezera's sporting career began as a downhill skier in his native Czechoslovakia, before he emigrated to Australia to be a ski instructor. Mezera retired from racing in 2004 but continues to hold roles in motorsport, most recently as a driving standards advisor to several domestic motor racing championships. Personal life Born in 1958 in communist Czechoslovakia, Mezera was a skilled tennis player and skier in his youth - qualifying for and placing in national level ski events under the tutelage of his father, a ski coach in his own right. Tomáš Klíma (born June 13, 1990) is a Slovak professional ice hockey centre currently playing for HC 21 Prešov of the Slovak Extraliga. Tomáš Tatar
Tomáš Tatar (; born 1 December 1990) is a Slovak professional ice hockey left winger for the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League (NHL). Tatar was drafted 60th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Slovak Extraliga During the 2007–08 season, Tatar saw time with Dukla Trenčín's U18 and U20 squads, finishing the season with a combined 50 goals and 39 assists in 46 games. During the 2008–09 season, Tatar's first season in the senior Slovak hockey system, he played for HKm Zvolen in the elite Extraliga, recording seven goals and eight assists in 48 games. Tomáš Surový
Tomáš Surový (born September 24, 1981) is a Slovak professional ice hockey left winger currently playing for Slovan Bratislava of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Playing career As a youth, Surový played in the 1995 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a team from Bratislava. Surový was drafted in the fourth round, 120th overall, by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He called-up from Pittsburgh's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre Penguins, in December 2005, where he earned the nickname "Killer" after jumping to Sidney Crosby's defence in a game against the Ottawa Senators. The Penguins decided against re-signing him following the 2005–06 season and he signed with Luleå HF of the Swedish Elitserien.
