Tomáš Kučera (canoeist)
Tomáš Kučera (born 21 January 1985 in Liptovský Mikuláš) is a retired Slovak slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 2001 to 2018. He competed in the C1 event until 2005. He raced in the C2 event together with Ján Bátik from 2006 until 2018, when the discipline was discontinued. Kučera won five medals in the C2 team event at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with a gold (2009), three silvers (2011, 2013, 2014) and a bronze (2007). He also won 4 golds and 2 bronzes at the European Championships The European Championships is a multi-sport tournament which brings together the existing European Championships of some of the continent's leading sports every four years. Canoe Slalom
Canoe slalom (previously known as whitewater slalom) is a competitive sport with the aim to navigate a decked canoe or kayak through a course of hanging downstream or upstream gates on river rapids in the fastest time possible. It is one of the two kayak and canoeing disciplines at the Summer Olympics, and is referred to by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as Canoe/Kayak Slalom. The 2006 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Nottingham, United Kingdom from 24 to 27 August 2006 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA) at the Holme Pierrepont National Watersports Centre. It was the 8th edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 4th edition for the Under 23 category. A total of 15 medal events took place. No medals were awarded for the U23 men's C2 team event due to low number of participating countries. Ján Bátik (born 17 January 1986 in Liptovský Mikuláš) is a retired Slovak slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 2002 to 2018. He competed in the C1 event until 2005. He raced in the C2 event together with Tomáš Kučera from 2006 until 2018, when the discipline was discontinued. He also competed in the mixed C2 event alongside Soňa Stanovská in 2017 and 2018. The 2002 ICF World Junior Canoe Slalom Championships were the 9th edition of the ICF World Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships, ICF World Junior Canoe Slalom Championships. The ICF World Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships are an annual international canoeing and kayaking event organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF).
