Tom Williamson, Baron Williamson
Thomas Williamson, Baron Williamson, (2 September 1897 – 27 February 1983) was a British trade unionist and Labour Party politician. Williamson was born in St. Helens, Lancashire. His father was a glassblower, and Tom began his career working in the office of his father's union, the National Amalgamated Union of Labour. He became a full-time union delegate, and in 1924, when it became part of the National Union of General and Municipal Workers (NUGMW), he was appointed as a district secretary. He became interested in politics at age 9, when his father took him to see Tom Mann speak. During the First World War, he served with the Royal Engineers. He first foray into politics was serving on the Liverpool City Council from 1929 to 1935. At the 1945 general election, he was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for the Brigg constituency in Lincolnshire. Thomas Williamson (born 24 December 1984) is an English footballer who played in the Premier League for Leicester City. Released by Leicester in 2004, he spent a year at Canvey Island and two at Grays Athletic before his contract was terminated by mutual consent on 3 August 2007. Tom Williamson (born 12 December 1998) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Hailing from Ararat, Williamson played TAC Cup football with North Ballarat until 2016. At the draft combine that year he scored particularly well in fitness indicators including placing first in the agility test and finishing second in the 3 km time trial, and he was drafted to the AFL by with the club's fifth selection and the sixty-first overall in the 2016 national draft. Williamson quickly made his AFL debut, in round 3 of the 2017 season in the fifteen point victory against at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Thomas "Tommy" Williamson (born May 5, 1999) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Loudoun United in the USL Championship. Career Youth Williamson was born in Anaheim Hills, California. He played youth soccer as part of the USSDA academy team Strikers FC in Irvine, forgoing playing high school soccer for Villa Park High School. Williamson was in the top 10 in his division's scoring table during the 2015-16 season, scoring 18 goals in 34 games and tallying 12 assists. Thomas Robertson Williamson (8 February 1901 – 1 April 1988) was a Scottish footballer who played in the Football League for Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City and Stoke. Career Williamson was a Ship's plater working on the River Clyde before he started to play junior football for Kirkintilloch Rob Roy at weekends before signing for English First Division side Blackburn Rovers. Unfortunately, he never fitted in at Ewood Park and he returned to Scotland to sign for Third Lanark. In 1926 Stoke City moved in and persuaded Williamson to sign for them in an attempt to gain an instant return to the Second Division. Williamson proved to be a shrewd signing by Tom Mather as he displayed his quality in his first season with Stoke winning the Football League Third Division North in 1926–27. Thomas Williamson (Australian Politician)
Thomas Michael Williamson (1853 – 16 December 1921) was an Australian politician. He was born in Sydney to typesetter William Williamson and Anna Maria Annesley, and grandson of Michael Williamson who both served as mayors of Redfern. He attended Lyndhurst College, serving as an articled clerk in his uncle's law firm, Williamson & Williamson, and was admitted as a solicitor in 1877. He later became a partner in the firm. On 8 October 1873 he married Annie McNamara, with whom he had seven children. He was a candidate for the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for the district of Redfern at the 1882 election, winning a seat at the 1885 election. He did not re-contest the seat in 1887. He told a meeting of electors that this was due to medical advice, while a biographical article in the ''Australian Town and Country Journal'' attributes his retirement to the pressures of business. Tom Williamson (9 February 1880 – 4 April 1950) was an English professional golfer who played in the early 20th century. Williamson finished in the top 10 in the Open Championship on six occasions and played in it over fifty years. His best performance came in the 1914 Open Championship when he tied for fourth place, six shots behind the winner. With Harry Vardon he won the 1913 Sphere and Tatler Foursomes Tournament by a convincing 7 & 5 margin. He was Captain of England in 1909 and represented England between 1904 and 1913. He won the Midland Professional Championship when it was first held in 1897 and a further six times. He was a renowned club maker and was the first to number clubs in 1906. He experimented with score cards placing a course plan on the reverse side in 1930. He designed sixty courses, the majority in the East Midlands. Thomas Smith Williamson (March 1800 – June 24, 1879) was an American physician and missionary. Williamson, the only son of Rev. William and Mary (Smith) Williamson, was born at Fair Forest, Union District, S. C., in March, 1800; in 1805 his father, wishing to set at liberty the slaves which he had inherited, moved to Manchester, Ohio. He graduated from Jefferson College, Canonsburg, Pa , in 1820, and soon after began to read medicine with his brother-in-law, Dr. William Wilson, of West Union, Ohio. Dr Thomas Williamson FRSE FRCSE (1815–1885) was a Scottish surgeon at Leith Hospital and Medical Officer of Health for North Edinburgh. Life He was born in Greenock in 1815. He studied Medicine at Edinburgh University graduating MB ChB and receiving his doctorate (MD) in 1835. He disappears from records until 1845 when he appears as a doctor in Leith living at first 51 then 35 Charlotte Street. During this period he became senior surgeon at Leith Hospital and remained in this role for over thirty years. He also oversaw the Leith Hospital for Female Incurables (an asylum opposite the hospital) and served as Leith's first Medical Officer of Health. Thomas Andrew Williamson (April 23, 1831 – October 31, 1891) was a 19th-century American serial killer. First sentenced to death for an 1868 murder in Illinois, his sentence was commuted to 20 years imprisonment and he was released after serving 11 years. He then moved to Missouri, where he subsequently murdered his wife and two men in 1889 and 1890, respectively. He was convicted of the latter murders, sentenced to death again and executed in 1891.
