Tommy Jammer
Tommy Jammer is an American retired professional wrestler. He is best known for his appearances with the American Wrestling Association from 1989 to 1990. Professional wrestling career American Wrestling Association (1989–1990) Trained by Eddie Sharkey during the mid-1980s, he was one of several wrestlers as part of a talent exchange agreement between Sharkey and AWA promoter Greg Gagne to make his debut in the last years of the AWA. Participating in a 17-man Battle Royal to crown a new AWA World Heavyweight Champion in St. Paul, Minnesota on February 7, 1989, Jammer was the first man to be eliminated. He did, however, score one of his first victories in the promotion defeating Mike Enos almost two weeks later in Marshfield, Wisconsin on February 18 and, in a tag team match with Derrick Dukes, defeated Badd Company resulting in Pat Tanaka and Paul Diamond splitting up in Rochester, Minnesota on May 6, 1989. Tully Arthur Blanchard (born January 22, 1954) is an American-Canadian professional wrestler and manager. He is best known for his appearances with Jim Crockett Promotions and the World Wrestling Federation in the mid-to-late 1980s as a member of The Four Horsemen and The Brain Busters. Championships held by Blanchard over his career include the NWA World Television Championship, NWA World Tag Team Championship, WWF World Tag Team Championship, and NWA United States Heavyweight Championship. He was inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame in 2009 and the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012. Larry Cameron
Larry Cameron (November 4, 1952 – December 13, 1993) was an American professional football player and wrestler. Football career Larry Cameron was born and raised in Natchez, MS. When he was a teenager, he played football in high school and college. He was drafted in the NFL in 1973 by the Denver Broncos and later by the Canadian Football League, where he played with the BC Lions and Ottawa Rough Riders. In 1975 and 1976 he was an all-star and won the Grey Cup with Ottawa. His football career would be cut short due to injuries. Wrestling career After his football career ended, Cameron became Mr. Minnesota and Northern States Bodybuilding champion before he got discovered by Ed Sharkey and wrestled in his Promotion AWA. Lawrence Whistler (born December 5, 1951), better known by the ring name Larry Zbyszko, is an American retired professional wrestler. He is perhaps best known for his feud with his mentor, Bruno Sammartino, during the early 1980s as well as his work as a wrestler and color commentator for World Championship Wrestling. Among other accolades, he is a two-time world champion having twice held the AWA World Heavyweight Championship. Zbyszko was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on March 28, 2015 by Sammartino. The Texas Hangmen was the name of a professional wrestling tag team formed in the 1980s. The team competed in the American Wrestling Association in the late 1980s, where they received their highest amount of exposure, but had more success in the World Wrestling Council where they held the company's world tag team championship multiple times. Formation The Texas Hangmen consisted of wrestlers Frank Vizi, who had been wrestling as Rick Gantner in the AWA and World Wrestling Federation primarily as a jobber, and Mike Moran who had spent an extensive amount of time wrestling in Kansas City and the American Wrestling Association as Mike Richards. The Beverly Brothers were a professional wrestling tag team comprising Mike Enos and Wayne Bloom in the World Wrestling Federation. They were also known as The Destruction Crew in the American Wrestling Association and the Minnesota Wrecking Crew 2 in the National Wrestling Alliance. The American Wrestling Association (AWA) was an American professional wrestling promotion based in Minneapolis, Minnesota that ran from 1960 until 1991. It was owned and founded by Verne Gagne and Wally Karbo. The territory was originally part of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), becoming an independent territory in 1960. History Early years Anton Stecher, brother and manager of former World heavyweight champion Joe Stecher, was a founding member of the NWA in 1948 and had promoted wrestling in Minneapolis since 1933 through his Minneapolis Boxing and Wrestling Club.
