Tommy Brenton
Thomas Brenton (born May 2, 1989) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Stony Brook Seawolves of the America East Conference, where he won the 2013 Lefty Driesell Award, given to the top defensive player in Division I college basketball. Brenton also won the 2013 America East Conference Player of the Year, becoming the second player from Stony Brook to earn the award. He played professionally in Japan for the Link Tochigi Brex of the B.League from 2013 to 2017. At 6'5" tall and playing the power forward position, Brenton is Stony Brook's all-time leader in assists and steals. He was inducted into the Stony Brook Hall of Fame in 2020. The power forward (PF), also known as the four or strong forward, is a position in basketball. Power forwards play a role similar to centers. When on offense, they typically play with their backs towards the basket. When on defense, they typically position themselves under the basket in a zone defense or against the opposing power forward in man-to-man defense. Japan Basketball League
The Japan Basketball League (JBL) was a professional basketball league in Japan. It made up the top-tier of basketball in Japan alongside the bj league, Japan's other basketball competition, with no promotion and relegation between bj and the JBL. 2013 National Invitation Tournament
The 2013 National Invitation Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 32 NCAA Division I teams that were not selected to participate in the 2013 NCAA tournament. The annual tournament began on March 19 on campus sites and ended on April 4 at Madison Square Garden. Baylor defeated Iowa, 74–54, to capture the Bears its first NIT title in school history. The Lou Henson Award is an award given annually by ''CollegeInsider.com'' to the most outstanding mid-major men's college basketball player in NCAA Division I competition. 2011–12 Stony Brook Seawolves Men's Basketball Team
The 2011–12 Stony Brook Seawolves men's basketball team represented Stony Brook University in the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were coached by seventh year head coach Steve Pikiell and played their home games at Pritchard Gymnasium. They are members of the America East Conference. The Seawolves were America East regular season champions but failed to win the America East Basketball Championship game for the second straight year.
