Tommy Boyle (footballer, Born 1886)
Thomas William Boyle (29 January 1886 – 5 January 1940) was an English footballer, primarily associated with Burnley. He was the only player to have captained a Burnley team in a winning FA Cup Final. Career Boyle was born in the village of Hoyland in Yorkshire in 1886. He started his career at Barnsley. In 1912 Boyle crossed the Pennines to sign for Burnley for what was then a club record fee of £1,150. He was described as a great header of the ball, an excellent passer with great leadership qualities, and as being one of the best players ever to play for Burnley. Having lifted the FA Cup in 1914, he then became the first Burnley captain to lift the League Championship Trophy as Burnley won the 1920–21 title. By then, he was 33 and his career was coming to an end. That season was to be his last full season in the first team. Tommy Boyle (footballer, Born 1901)
Thomas Boyle (21 February 1901 – 9 January 1972) was an English footballer who played as an inside right or right half. He played for Sheffield United, Manchester United and Northampton Town, winning the FA Cup with Sheffield United in 1925. He later spent a season as player-manager of Scarborough. Playing career Born in Sheffield, Boyle was spotted playing for the Bullcroft Colliery team and signed for Sheffield United in 1921. He initially found it difficult to establish himself in the first team, but over time his form improved, particularly his heading, which was a factor in him being selected for the 1925 FA Cup Final ahead of the more experienced Tommy Sampy. He left the Blades in 1929 after making over 140 appearances and scoring 40 goals. Boyle signed for Manchester United for £2,000, but failed to settle and spent only one relatively unproductive season at Old Trafford in which he made just 17 starts. Thomas Boyle (29 June 1775 – 12 October 1825), an Irish American, as a captain of the schooner ''Comet'' and the clipper ''Chasseur'', was one of the most successful Baltimore privateers during the War of 1812. In 1794, he moved his base of operation to Baltimore, Maryland. Early career At age 17 he commanded several vessels for Baltimore French born merchant John Carrere, including ''Vigilant''.
